It is one of so many websites that offer computer games for download. Yet there are some major differences. First priority (for me anyways) is the fact that there isn't a bunch of spyware involved. If you download a game for either trial or purchase, that's exactly what you get. Just the game, no viruses or other worrisome internet pests. One giant selling point for this site as opposed to others is the fact that you never have to worry about what will happen to your purchases should your computer crash, need reformatting, get replaced, or if you just want to have it on more than one computer in your home. They save a list of all your purchased games under your account and those can be installed again anywhere with just a click of the button. Other places I've seen require you to send them up to $10 extra for a shipped off cd to do the same thing. It seems like there is a little something for everyone. Arcade style action games, shooters, puzzles, mahjong varients, hidden object games, etc. are all quite prolific on bigfish.
Of course there are some downsides, as with anything. If you want the cheapest prices on multiple games, you have to join a club that commits you to a certain number of buys at least within a specified time period. The various free trials all last only an hour, which means you've got to control your instinct to buy immediately just to finish what you were in the middle of doing. Then again, if you see a game for sale in a store you may want to see if there isn't a cheaper version on Bigfish instead. I made that mistake with Fairy Godmother Tycoon! I could have saved about $12 and not had to put the disc in everytime I want to play.
