When you become a Big Brother fan, you are not just going to be watching a show one hour a week.  Nope!  Instead be prepared to watch the show 3 times a week, talk on chat groups, and read gossip online!

What is it?
Big Brother is a live reality show meaning that it is going on at the same time as you watch as opposed to being taped months before it airs.  The premise is that a number of strangers are put into a house together, completely cut off from the world.  They have no TV (imagine that!), no music, no books.  I don't even think they have pens and paper b/c I never see anyone writing in a journal or anything.  The only entertainment they have is the bible, and each other.

Each week there are 3 episodes.  The first is a Head of Household competition where one of the houseguests wins the HOH spot for the week and gets to sleep in the big room with a private bathroom.  The next episode is when the HOH puts two other houseguests "on the block" which means one of them can be voted off.  Then the third episode is the Power of Veto competition where the two houseguests who are on the block can try to win the veto and get themselves off the block, in which case the HOH has to put someone else up.

Confused yet?  This all wraps around back to the first episode which is usually shown Live where one of the two people on the block is voted off.  The game repeats itself in this manner with twists and turns along the way to keep everyone, even the audience, on their toes!  The last person standing wins $500,000.  Doesn't seem like a lot for months locked away, so you can imagine what people actually end up on the show - people who can be away for that long are not always the best types of people!

Why is it addictive?
There is a lot going on each week so you can't help but get into it.  Big Brother is one of the most talked about and gossiped about shows on the net!  This is because Big Brother is on 24/7, even when your TV isn't showing it.  The show sells subscriptions to allow people to watch the house live anytime they want.  People see all the dirty secrets of the houseguests, including things that are too R rated for TV.  This also means some people know things like who won the Veto before it happens because these aspects of the game happen before they are shown on tv.

I personally do not pay for any of this, but instead I chat with people who do.  There are websites out there (such as mortystv) that literally tell you minute to minute what is going on in the house.  I don't read it, it's too boring for me because a lot of it is just standard daily stuff, but I know people who do and if they find any interesting gossip they share!

It is fun to talk about this show with others and discuss who you like and who you don't like.  You do have to be careful about where you chat though as some people get so obsessed that they will insult you personally just because you like someone they don't.  I stick to chatting on Mylot where people I've chatted with seem to be more mature.

Overall
It's just an addicting show!  There are always lots of interesting characters and people you love and people you love to hate.  There will be people you never forget!  Like Will and Boogie pictured below who lied to everyone, told everyone to their faces that they were always telling lies, and yet they both won!  Will won in Season 2 and Boogie won when they returned for All Stars. The best part, they were hilarious while they did all this lying.  It was my favorite 2 seasons to watch.

I do wish Big Brother would do more interesting twists though.  This season they did "Til death do us part" and put everyone together in couples, however halfway through they broke up the couples and now it's just like any other season.  Some people say CBS makes twists and turns on purpose to make the game go the way they want, and I tend to agree at times.  But who cares!  It's still fun to watch.  Enjoy!!
