There is nothing in the world like Tuna Helper... unless you count Hamburger Helper! Tuna helper is the best way to get your dose of protein filled tuna.
What is it?
Tuna helper comes in various varieties but what it all comes down to is different kinds of tuna noodle casserole. The product comes with dry noodles, sauce, sometimes even toppings. You just add tuna, milk and butter to most varieties to make a yummy casserole.
How easy is it?
It can be easy or REAL easy depending how you make it. One way is on the stove top which is easy but takes more of your time as you have to stir in ingredients as you go and constantly keep an eye on it. This method does end up tasting a little bit creamier and a little bit better since you can keep it on the stove until it's as creamy as you want.
The second method is REAL easy since you just pour the ingredients into a casserole dish and throw it in the oven. This method takes longer to cook, but it takes less of your time. When I'm lazy, this is the way I make it. It tastes just as good but may not be as creamy as it's hard to gage when it is the perfect time to take it out. This method is especially useful if you are making 2 boxes at once since that is hard to make on the stove.
How does it taste?
It is so yummy! I love the Tuna Melt variety the best because it is so very cheesy, however I like almost every variety. At times it feels like the one can of tuna isn't enough so I add in double just so we can get a good amount of tuna in each serving.
How much does it serve?
One thing I love about Tuna Helper is how much it serves! My husband and I can both have large servings and yet still have enough left for 2-3 servings. Usually we manage to break it into 2 servings on day 1 and 2 servings on day 2. Kids probably won't eat as much as we do so it could serve your whole family. Growing up my mom always made 1.5 boxes each time so that all 5 of us could eat dinner and still have some leftover.
Healthwise
I don't think it's that bad to eat, but as with all boxed foods you have to look out for the salt. Fat and calories are low, and of course the tuna offers plenty of protein, so I can deal with the salt.
Go Make Dinner!
In the end this is a great way to eat Tuna and an especially great idea for catholics on Fridays during lent. Some kids and adults just don't like tuna in general, but if you put it in Tuna Helper they will probably eat it. My sister is not a big fan of tuna, but will eat Tuna Helper. You may think you can make your own version by getting noodles, cream soups, and tuna, but I've tried those homemade versions and they are not as good. Grab a box today and enjoy!!
