Betty Crocker Hamburger Helper Microwave Singles —

Hamburger Helper Microwave Singles was a hit with the teens of the household but not with me!  I didn't find this to be a meal that I enjoyed and when my hubby saw the serving size, well let's just say he rolled his eyes.  Here's the scoop on this product.

Hamburger Helper Microwave Singles

This product is available in four flavors (Cheeseburger Macaroni, Cheesy Beef Taco, Stroganoff or Cheesy Lasagna).  It comes packaged in a box with 4 individual serving packets and retails for about $3.79 a box.  It was marketed by General Mills for teens and adults, however, I tend to think that this product is more popular with kids and teens.

Hamburger Helper Microwave Singles is very easy to prepare.  All you need is a bowl to microwave it and 3/4 cup of hot water to stir in to mix with the contents of the package.  Microwave on high for 4 to 6 minutes and you have a meal.

The mixture contains everything you would normally have in the regular package of Hamburger Helper that you would prepare yourself.  It even contains the meat in a freeze dried formula.

My ViewPoint on Hamburger Helper Microwave Singles

As I stated earlier, I wasn't that impressed with this product.  However, the teens in the household love it.  Why?  It fits their fast paced lifestyle and is quick and easy to prepare.  We have only prepared the Cheeseburger Mac flavor.  It is the all time favorite of the regular Hamburger Helper, so that is the flavor the rules here.  I buy this every now and then because the girls love it.

To me, this product is pretty much what an adult would expect from a mix.  This is different from the original version of Hamburger Helper since it contains the meat also.  Don't expect a lot of meat--it is probably 1/3 to 1/4 of what you would have when you prepare the original version.  My husband just looked at the serving size when one of the girls fixed this and laughed.  He could easily wipe out the whole box of 4 servings and still be hungry.

Also, the cost of $3.79 per package makes each serving almost $1 each.  Compared to the the original version, this is expensive.  You can prepare the original version and freeze it in individual servings if time permits.  I also think the original tastes much better!

My final thoughts on this product are that it is a product that is useful for kids.  I think it would be good for kids comng in from school hungry and better than them filling up on junk food.  It is something that older kids can prepare themselves without destroying a kitchen.  And if you have a picky eater in the house, they just may like this.

I rated it average and that is how I will recommend Hamburger Helper Microwave Singles--3 VP's!

This is a good snack for me at night when I am working at the hospital. Sometimes we don't have time to eat and this makes a small, convenient snack for me. :)

Teenagers! They will eat most anything - unless it's healthy.

Not my cup of tea, but it sounds like it would make a satisfying after school snack for kids and teens during these long winter months. Great review.

Damn, I don't think these are in Canada yet. Good review though.

I think it sounds great for teens...I suspect mine would love the ease of it. I also suspect it is full of sodium. My kids love the original hamburger helper.

Yeah a lot of times this type of thing is just average. But it's usually still satisfying when on the go! Thanks for the review, my husband may still like it as a snack.
