Hamburger Helper is another one of those things that should be kept on hand "just in case". There are so many different varieties of it that you will definitely find something your family will like. All you need is a pound of ground beef (or turkey) and you have dinner fast. Add a salad or a bag of frozen veggies and you have a complete meal. It's easy to make a double batch for drop-ins and it's quick, easy and cheap. I've fallen back on Hamburger Helper over the years and can truthfully say that I have at least three boxes in my pantry at the time of this review.
I usually have Hamburger Helper at least once a month. My family likes the cheesy types. I make it when I don't feel well, if we had a big dinner the day before (like a Holiday) or if people with kids drop in unexpectedly. Kids especially like it. If you keep ground beef or turkey handy, dinner is just minutes away. I usually buy them when they are a dollar a box at my local store and get several varieties. I make sure to get two of the cheeseburger macaroni one in case I need to make a double batch. With one box at a dollar and a pound of ground turkey at one dollar, I'm serving five to six people on two bucks. You can't beat that with a bat.
I really enjoy cooking, but let's face it, sometimes we just don't feel like it or for whatever reason, don't have time. These are the times I use Hamburger Helper. It isn't as tasty and healthy as a home cooked meal, but it is better for you than most take-out and it tastes good. I always keep a few boxes on hand. JUST IN CASE.
