I was a little apprehensive about booking this hotel because the price was so cheap I feared it would be a little shabby or run down. Paper thin Walls!!

WE chose the Best Western Mainstay Inn since it was a National chain and the rates were reasonable. We figured we would get a good clean room with good service and comfort and we were not looking for anything fancy. The walls in the main part of the hotel were paper thin. We had a great room as usual,very clean.This visit was for a funeral,so we were rather emotional & not on top of things.We ate in the dining room.My husband left his credit card on the table by accident. The staff immediately returned it to us.The desk staff have always been friendly and accommodating.There are always plenty of towels. The beds are comfortable & they have great pillows. There are extra pillows & blankets. I like that hair dyer & iron availability.With all of the airline restrictions this isa very important ammenity.We felt well looked after.Another thing is the computer in the... read full review »

There was no elevator so we had to carry up all opur luggage. once we returned from the beach and took a shower, i had gotten out of the tub and slipped on the floor, almost fell, there was so much cleaning solution left on the tile that when my wet foot stepped down, i slipped and had to grab the sink. just another annoying thing. the sheets kept coming off the bed leaving a bare mattress, we couldn't even find the tv remote, luckily we were tired anyway so just went to sleep. it wasn't horrible, but for the amount i paid, i expected a little more comfort. the resteraunt is good, the location... read full review »

The Staff was great but the walls are paper thin.

I wouldn't stay here again. The price was very reasonable so maybe I got what I paid for. The walls were paper thin. I heard my neighbor's TV and him talking on the phone. And walking down the hall I heard what other's were doing in their room as well. The room was a good size and it was clean. The linen's were very clean except for the bedspread. As we all know these don't get cleaned daily but they should be inspected. There was blood on the inside of the bedspread. The light in the corner was broken and a picture was missing from the wall. The Best Western Mainstay Inn was in a word, adequate. The room was a nice size, with a wardrobe to hang clothes in, instead of a closet. The bathroom was a bit cramped, not a very sizable tub/shower either. The sink space, which was outside the bathroom was decent, but again, a little on the cramped side. The only real complaint was that the heat took a couple of hours to finally kick in. There was the convenience of a restaurant adjouning the hotel, however I did not try it out. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and I felt that made up for any other shortcomings.

Was looking for a cheap place to stay but one that was not crummy. was pleasantly suprised with this hotel. they had just put in new carpet and the place was immaculate. the room was of average hotel size and very comfortable. we ordered room service and the food was good as well. u can walk right across the street to the newport casino, and newport is a quick 5 min drive away. i wish the pool was indoors as we visited in march. Overall great place for the price.

Entertainment: Short Walk, Newport casino right across the street if youre into gambling.

We enjoyed our stay even though there was a communion and a prom going on the night we checked in. We had no problems and were not bothered by any of the other guests.

Dining: Long Walk, There's a Wal-Mart with a full service grocery 1/2 block away. Bishop's 4th St diner has wonderful food and reasonable prices for breakfast and lunch. It was less than 1/2 mile away. Mama Leones had delicious Italian food & was across the street from Bishops. All this 2 blocks from the Naval Base which is why we were there.

The hotel was very nice, clean and extremely close to the heart of Newport. For the money paid the room was nothing to brag about and there were not any added amenities (no pool, no fridge, no microwave) but there was an on site restaurant and there is a conference room available for business meetings.

Shopping: Short Drive, About a five minute drive from the hotel are the Newport Mansions and local shops.

The Best Western Mainstay was a very reasonable and clean hotel. It is in a great location, close by to local attractions (shops, cliff walk, mansions, etc..) and places to eat. Newport Grand Casino (slot machines only) is across the street. I would definately stay there again.

Recreational Attactions: Short Drive, Local shops, attractions and restaurants are all within a couple of miles of the hotel.

The Best Western The Mainstay Inn, Newport, RI is nice and clean. The location was great - easy to access to sight-seeings (Newport mansions) and restaurants. The room was neat and clean. I likeed the flexible check-in time.

Recreational Attactions: Short Drive, The Newport mansions (The Breakers and Marble house) were gorgous. Only 5 -10 min drive. Free parkings nearby all mansions.

Easy to get to from the highway. Probably the best customer service I have experienced at a hotel ever. They were patient, friendly and genuine. We showed up at 11:30 with an infant, they checked us in instead of having us wait until check in at 3:00. I think they may have upgraded us to a suite but not sure.

Shopping: Short Drive, newport has great shopping

Everything was laid out simply but nicely. From the parking to the room to the dining accomodations to the location, it was very convenient and very easy to get around. I would definitely stay here again.

Recreational Attactions: Short Drive, Mansions of Newport were well worth seeing. Somnething you can easily do yourself if you have a car.

The Best Western Mainstay Inn. Newport, RI was being renovated. The room was large and we liked the closet for the clothes and the vanity area separate from the bathroom. New carpets. The room could use a refrigerator.

Recreational Attactions: Short Drive, The Grand a slot place was across the street. Short drive to the Mansions.

The Best Western Newport was very comfortable. It is located across the street from the casino. Taxi service was great and we were less than 5 minutes from downtown Newport, where its $100+ to stay. Great place. VERY CLEAN!

Nightlife: Short Drive, Minutes away from Thames Street, lots of bars and clubs!! Great time for all!
