Let's see...Top Ten Romantic Comedies...Good Grief...How about if I do top Five? It'll be too hard to think of 10 without getting up from my papasan chair!!!
1. WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING (Sandra Bullock/Bill Pullman) One of the sweetest movies I've ever seen (and I've seen a kajillion)...This would be one of my best recommendations. All Lucy wants is a family and someone to love and to be loved back and no one deserves it more. Her struggle to decide whether to reveal the truth or go with the flow makes for a hilarious storyline but one that brings tears to your eyes....both sad and happy.
2. 50 1ST DATES (Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore) Another sweet comedy, and Adam isn't a complete boob in this one. His passion for a woman who can't remember him the next day and his sacrifice at being patient and willing to learn to live with that situation is heartwarming.
3. THE WEDDING SINGER (Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore) Set in the 80s makes it totally awesome to begin with (my gen) but the love story is what sells the movie. These two have such great chemistry and the ending is the best. If a man sang to me on a plane full of people I'd marry him on the tarmac!
4. HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN TEN DAYS (Kate Hudson/Matthew McConaughey) This movie cracks me up...Kate plays the part of the crazy girlfriend so well sometimes you think she's not pretending. And Matt's character gets so exasperated you hafta feel a little sorry for him, until you remember that he's deceiving her too, both without thought as to how their actions might affect the other, BUT they fall in love anyway, without meaning to and that is a love that will last!
5. PS I LOVE YOU (Hilary Swank/Gerard Butler) I left this one for last only because it's alot more sad than funny but there are very funny parts in it, when you can get past the terrible loss she's experienced. It's a heartwarming past/present look at a love story that is cut short prematurely, bu that endures even after it's forced to end.
