Best Buy Review Summary

Electronics superstores are commonplace nowadays and the king of electronics stores is Best Buy. This electronic store operates Bestbuy.com on the internet and this site is notable for its good prices, above average selection, and the option to pick up an electronic purchase ordered online at an actual Best Buy location. But others have voiced dissatisfaction with Bestbuy.com, pointing out the slow service and bad return policy. Feelings about Bestbuy.com range from “Good Place to Shop for the Novice Computer Owner”, to “Don’t Buy Anything Here”, making Bestbuy.com a toss- up among Shopping Web Sites

I like to shop via the internet and I have had quite a time over the past ten years sampling different sites and making purchases of goods and services. I still try to visit new sites when I can, but there are several that have become old friends. One site that has become an old standby for me is Bestbuy.com... review »

There's been a lot in the press, lately, about the increased acceptablility of haggling in the American retail sector. In the past, there were only two types of shopping in the USA where haggling was considered acceptable: car shopping and shopping for electronics. (I'm not counting thrift stores or...

Absolutely the WORST consumer transaction of my life! It happened 2 years ago, and I estimate it has cost Best Buy over $10,000 in business from myself, family, & friends. All because they wouldn't stand behind their product.

Long story short (if possible), I bought a 36" flat panel TV from Best Buy ($500 or so). Since it wouldn't fit in my car, I arranged to rent an SUV to get it home. I had one of my daughter's friends help me take it (and the TV stand I bought) upstairs to my apartment. Two days later, after I had the TV stand put together, I cut the box around the TV, lifted off the top, and...

Recently we went through a period of mourning-major appliances passing away...My grandmother always said that deaths came in threes when referring to celebrities, but I guess it is true for appliances as well.  First was the clothes dryer, and we went out to purchase its replacement, and very shortly afterwards, while we were still paying for the dryer, both my fridge and my stove went the way of the rainbow bridge about a week apart.  I shopped diligently both in person, and online for the best possible prices and the best possible financial arrangements for payment.   Best Buy was it.  I...

I have had many bad customer service experiences with Best Buy. In addition, their prices are way too expensive compared to Circuit City. My most recent bad experience was a week after last Thanksgiving. I had called the week before to find out if they had a Nintendo Wii in stock. They told me to call back in exactly a week and they would have plenty. So I called them back and a sales associate answered the phone. I asked her the question and she said, "Umm, no we aint go no Wiis maam." I explained to her that I was told they would get a shipment in today. She got angry with me and said, "I saaaaaid,... review »

Went to Best Buy to purchase an amplified antenna for my tv with converter box as I was told of the selection they have. In spite of the fact there was 5 salespeople sitting around within the department, not one of them offered us help while we were searching for the antennas. When we finally did locate them a saleperson in the area was already helping someone. We waited a few minutes and then asked for help in purchasing the antenna we actually needed. We were given good information for making a decision but the person helping us was not friendly at all and didn't really seem interested in helping...

Best Buy is to electronics stores as what Wal-Mart is to discount stores...the biggest.  This can be good and bad.

Sometimes you actually get a knowledgeable sales person...sometimes not.  Some years ago I found one when my old TV bit the dust.  I explained that I was on a pension and wanted just a good basic TV.  He immediately showed me a 'floor sample' RCA at a rock bottom price.  He also explained that this was clearance item only and it came with no box and no instruction manual.  But, he did take the time to go through the remote control with me and made sure I understood how to set...

It seems in the world of electronic stores, we like to assume that bigger = better. Why go to a local store when there is BEST BUY?! I mean, they have everything and the best support department, right?

My past experiences here have been nothing but headaches.

 1) In-store: The Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, 2007 was a busy time - we were hunting for our first refridgerator for our new house! We knew our budget and the style, but we still wanted to do a little comparrison shopping.

I had gone out with my dad while my husband was working and son was being watched by my mother. We walked into...

Best Buy like Circuit City offers in store pick up for items.  I have used this service by them 4 times.  The first time, after receiving the final email for store pick up which I printed and presented at the counter - the item was not there.  They looked at the email receipt as if it was written in some foreign language.  After countless people were called over, they retrieved the item.  It took 40 minutes.  I could have walked into the store, got the stereo and checked out in a regular check out line quicker than this.  Two other times the items were ready when I arrived.  Yet last week,... review »

So Best Buy makes me happy but furious at the same time.  Every time I go there (which is usually only if I find a good deal on something) they make me happy by the great deal they seem to be offering but then quickly infuriate me by their lack of customer service.  I think that their product offering, sales, and layout is all great, however, their associates need to be cross-trained better, have a better attitude toward customers and be more thorough.  With Circuit City quickly becoming less competitive, I hope that Best Buy does the right thing and steps up their customer service focus.

I go to Best Buy for all electronics/appliances, and up until this last time I had a great experience.  Its to long to type out, but when they say the will honor competitors prices, they did it grudginly.  I needed service within the first month of buying a new washer and dryer and it took days to get someone and then 2+ weeks to get the parts.  Installers took MY equipment without mentioning they were.  Service men left the defective parts at my home and did not dispose of them.  I will be looking for a new store to buy from

I have never had problems with this store, unlike their competitor, Circuit City.  Everytime I go in to this store I never have any problems.  I can easily find exactly what I want and for the price that I want.  I highly recommend Best Buy to EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!

I've always had good experiences with best buy.  The staff are usually available and willing to help, and if they don't know the answer they'll go out of their way to either find out or find someone that does.

I always feel like I'm listened to there.

My family bought a $1,500 laptop this summer and left it with the Geek Squad to have the anti virus and spy ware software installed as Best Buy recommended.  When I brought the laptop home after having this done, it wouldn't start.  Turns out the Geek Squad person who installed the new software also deleted a whole lot of necessary software required for the computer to run.

When I returned to the store I got terrible customer service even from the manager (Concord NH) and was told I must have done something to the computer.

I have told all my friends and family never to shop there again.
