Best Buy Review Summary

Electronics superstores are commonplace nowadays and the king of electronics stores is Best Buy. This electronic store operates Bestbuy.com on the internet and this site is notable for its good prices, above average selection, and the option to pick up an electronic purchase ordered online at an actual Best Buy location. But others have voiced dissatisfaction with Bestbuy.com, pointing out the slow service and bad return policy. Feelings about Bestbuy.com range from “Good Place to Shop for the Novice Computer Owner”, to “Don’t Buy Anything Here”, making Bestbuy.com a toss- up among Shopping Web Sites

I like to shop via the internet and I have had quite a time over the past ten years sampling different sites and making purchases of goods and services. I still try to visit new sites when I can, but there are several that have become old friends. One site that has become an old standby for me is… read full review »

There's been a lot in the press, lately, about the increased acceptablility of haggling in the American retail sector. In the past, there were only two types of shopping in the USA where haggling was considered acceptable: car shopping and shopping for electronics. (I'm not counting thrift stores… read full review »

Absolutely the WORST consumer transaction of my life! It happened 2 years ago, and I estimate it has cost Best Buy over $10,000 in business from myself, family, & friends. All because they wouldn't stand behind their product. — Long story short (if possible), I bought a 36" flat panel TV from Best Buy ($500 or so). Since it wouldn't fit in my car, I arranged to rent an SUV to get it home. I had one of my daughter's friends help me take it (and the TV stand I bought) upstairs to my apartment. Two days later, after I had the TV stand put together, I cut the box around the TV, lifted… read full review »

Recently we went through a period of mourning-major appliances passing away...My grandmother always said that deaths came in threes when referring to celebrities, but I guess it is true for appliances as well.  First was the clothes dryer, and we went out to purchase its replacement, and very shortly afterwards, while we were still paying for the dryer, both my fridge and my stove went the way of the rainbow bridge about a week apart.  I shopped diligently both in person, and online for the best possible prices and the best possible financial arrangements for payment.  … read full review »

I have had many bad customer service experiences with Best Buy. In addition, their prices are way too expensive compared to Circuit City. My most recent bad experience was a week after last Thanksgiving. I had called the week before to find out if they had a Nintendo Wii in stock. They told me to call back in exactly a week and they would have plenty. So I called them back and a sales associate answered the phone. I asked her the question and she said, "Umm, no we aint go no Wiis maam." I explained to her that I was told they would get a shipment in today. She got angry with me and said, "I… read full review »

I have never had problems with this store, unlike their competitor, Circuit City.  Everytime I go in to this store I never have any problems.  I can easily find exactly what I want and for the price that I want.  I highly recommend Best Buy to EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!! … read full review »

My family bought a $1,500 laptop this summer and left it with the Geek Squad to have the anti virus and spy ware software installed as Best Buy recommended.  When I brought the laptop home after having this done, it wouldn't start.  Turns out the Geek Squad person who installed the new software also deleted a whole lot of necessary software required for the computer to run. — When I returned to the store I got terrible customer service even from the manager (Concord NH) and was told I must have done something to the computer.  — I have told all my friends and… read full review »

It took me 3 hours to buy a camera! — I asked politely for a camera to purchase, and I had to wait 3 hours... just waiting for him to finish chatting with his co-workers. — after he took out the camera I requested, he tried to sell me other unnecessary stuff with it.  I had to keep telling him that I don't want to buy them for over 30 min. — I will NEVER buy anything from best buy!!! —… read full review »

Whenver I need a big ticket electronic item, I go to Best Buy.  They are, by far, the BEST in my town.  They're the most knowledgable, they go above & beyond every single time I go there.  I've bought a computer, a t.v., dvd players, movies, video gaming systems, GPS systems, digital camera......you get the idea.  No matter how much OR how little I am spending I get GREAT service.  — Even the cashier was helpful when I had an issue with a coupon I was trying to use.  She set my item aside until the next day so that I could receive an extra 20% off. … read full review »

It seems in the world of electronic stores, we like to assume that bigger = better. Why go to a local store when there is BEST BUY?! I mean, they have everything and the best support department, right? —  My past experiences here have been nothing but headaches. —  1) In-store: The Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, 2007 was a busy time - we were hunting for our first refridgerator for our new house! We knew our budget and the style, but we still wanted to do a little comparrison shopping. —  I had gone out with my dad while my husband was working and son… read full review »

Today again against my better judgement I decided to shop at the Best Buy in Hanover, MD for a new Scanner for my Computer. I had a 10% Rewards Zone Coupon to use, I was standing there looking at Scanners "confused" and 3 salesmen walked past me w/o saying a word to me, one even said "Excuse me!" to reach in front of me to grab something off the wall. After picking out my scanner I started to read the back of the box to see if I needed to purchase ink or a printer cable. Another customer that was looking at scanners as well asked me if I needed help, I told him that I wasn't sure what… read full review »

Thanksgiving Day, while waiting for the turkey to be done, my adult daughter (30), with whom I share an apartment and expenses, was looking through the online and newspaper ads for Thanksgiving and "Black Friday" sales.  We were both looking for Nintendo DS and Playstation 2 games for my 10 year old grandson, who has autism.  My daughter found a deal at Best Buy online for the Nickelodeon "Attack of the Toybots" game that my grandson had indicated he would like.  The deal was a decent price and a gift card if you ordered certain products.  She planned to use the gift card… read full review »

I've read some of the other reviews. They make some good points... You do have to make sure your purchase is something you really want, especially when it comes to expensive items like TVs and computers. If you think it is something you might change your mind about, don't open the box. Or don't buy it in the first place. I think they have to charge you a restocking fee because they can't charge full-price for open boxes on stuff like that, or you could buy it, use it for a while and return it... I'm not sure if that's really why, I'm just guessing. But reasons like that make sense. And if you… read full review »

Regarding the customer service at Best Buy, until about two weeks ago I would have given them at least 4.5 stars.  They are only getting three now because they still have the chance to redeem themselves, or else it would be a 1.  It seems that with small things they will go out of their way to help, find you items, transfer between stores, but when someone messes up big time regarding a big ticket item, suddenly they become very good at finding different phrases that all mean "I can't (I read won't) help you with that."  When buying a laptop about three months ago, I was told… read full review »
