Terrible Customer Service and Inept Sales People
1 star rating

willing to pay for quality, a comparison shopper, expecting good, fair service, appreciative of good customer service, not one to take bad service lightly, a busy professional

My family bought a $1,500 laptop this summer and left it with the Geek Squad to have the anti virus and spy ware software installed as Best Buy recommended.  When I brought the laptop home after having this done, it wouldn't start.  Turns out the Geek Squad person who installed the new software also deleted a whole lot of necessary software required for the computer to run.

When I returned to the store I got terrible customer service even from the manager (Concord NH) and was told I must have done something to the computer.

I have told all my friends and family never to shop there again.

Hi there. As I mention here... we absolutely welcome both critical and favorable feedback at Viewpoints. We ask that you share the level of respect to others as you would like to receive. Debates regarding the product, service or company specifically are always welcome. We just ask that all feedback in the form of reviews, comments and questions be constructive. As a computer savvy person, you must have a lot of helpful technical information and knowledge to share. Thank you.

I can only go by your post and you weren't specific on how you figured out these critical files were deleted. So please don't blame me because you didn't have the time to type a decent review because your obviously busy with your kids. I'm pretty computer savvy and I don't think you can just delete some files by accident and cause the PC not to start, especially since your new PC should be running Windows Vista which has protection in place against this and would automatically fix it on restart. But that aside how would you feel if people judged you by the one mistake you made in your life? November is a busy season in retail and a mistake might have been made but it doesn't mean you should say such horrible things about a company. This is one incident in one store. And if this is the way you judge then soon you can make a list of places that will make mistakes. Oh my god McDonald's forgot to give you napkins! Never again.

To DrivnFrmWithin- Perhaps if you read my entire post you'd have realized that 1) I wasn't diagnosing the problem myself and 2) When I brought the computer back, a different person in the Geek Squad (after keeping the computer for several days) determined that the dingbat who installed the anti-virus software (which I can do on my own- but thanks for making assumptions) managed to erase the start up software which was duh, why it wouldn't start. Since you've decided to pass judgement on me, I'll explain why I had them install the anti-virus stuff... I have 2 young kids and really didn't have time to sit and fiddle with it myself. In addition I wanted them to back up the hard drive and put the software on a cd for safety sake and figured I'd have them install the anti-virus at the same time. Try knowing what you're talking about before criticizing and passing judgement in the future. Thanks.

Funny how a person who couldn't install their own antivirus knows exactly why the computer wasn't working? Or are we trusting a competitors word? That's fair.

I ordered a Toshiba computer from Best Buy.com with a Intel chip and was horrified to find out that I was shipped a cheap model AMD computer instead of the Intel computer model I had ordered. To add insult to injury, I was charged the full amount for the Intel computer model I had ordered while the computer shipped was a cheap model AMD computer $300 cheaper. I promptly took the computer back to my nearest Best Buy store, where I have been told to come back tommorrow... I am extremely disappointed at what happened with my order - and am suspecting fraud at Best Buy.com. That somebody could have done this at Best Buy is shocking. I would advise anyone planning to buy from Best Buy.Com -- BEWARE !!
