olwenh says "This is the best machine in the world- bar none" about Bernina 830

I have sewn with the Bernina machines for about 25 years and honestly wouldn't use any other. Each time they came out with an upgraded machine I traded up. The 830 with the embroidery system is the absolute top of the line. It is computerized and almost does anything I ask of it. I have had a home sewing business for many years so I work my machines hard. The Bernina is the only machine that I can go from sewing the fines chiffon to the heaviest of denim or canvas and I don't need to even think of adjusting the tension. I am still learning all the things the 830 offers, it is very complex, but I am having fun and have embroidered several items. It really is the best.
...

nanabee says "I have had my 830 since April" about Bernina 830

I have had my machine in the shop at least 5 times....it is quite heavy to carry, so that is not a good thing. Several times they have worked on it while I was in class at my Bernina Dealer. I also have a 730e for 4 years. ..... 12,000.00 means expectations are high. The dealer has been great, I would refute arguments about care and use since I taught a computer electronic course. I had an old Kenmore that did not go to the shop in 29 years of use, My 730 E Bernina has been great, and it is also a high tech machine. I just carried my 830 today to have it returned to Bernina. My dealer gave me their floor model to use until my new one comes in. I just read about someone whose 2nd machine did not work properly either. I am thinking positively, because I really want this machine to work.

Examples of problems, thread breakage, bobbin breakage, numberous messages referring to both, sometimes accurate, sometimes with no problems. UGLY embroidery, I am using my old...
...

Ep081598 says "Bernina 830e is a dream machine!" about Bernina 830

My Bernina 830e has made sewing and embroidery so easy and so much fun! I have never enjoyed sewing more. Yes, it is a highly specialized sewing machine that is also a computer.

You can create your own stitches, sew in different directions without moving the fabric. Create, design, import and adjust embroidery designs without needing a separate software program. It sews at 1100 stitches a minute and embroiders at 1000 stitches a minute. It has a library of almost 1200 different stitch designs. I continue to learn more with it everyday. It's that powerful.

I bought the extra hoops and use them all. I can embroider down a sweater or do a large design on a jacket without having to split the design or move the hoop. If you have to stop in the middle of an embroidery design, the machine remembers where you were and takes you back like you had never stopped.

Threading is a breeze, fast and so convenient, especially when you embroider a multi-color design. You just push...
...

dougra806 says "The Bernina 830 is great but too sensitive with its technology." about Bernina 830

The Bernina 830, for the most part is wonderful with all of the new technology it covers. The size is extra large but still fits in a home sewers room comfortably. It is fast, quiet, and advanced in its features. The problem is that the sensors are way too sensitive. It sends out frequent error messages saying there are thread breakages or it is not threaded even when it is threaded. If it has the wrong thread type or color, or is not threaded tightly enough in the sensors, if the bobbin isn't threaded just so, then the error messages pop up to hinder your sewing. Even when you think all is right, up pops the error messages. Because of this, the sewing experience becomes stressful and not a smooth process. I have had this machine for 4 months and am still hopeful that we get used to each other because I do love the machine. The manual could be more complete. Hopefully Bernina will add more teaching info to the manual to make our journey easier in learning how to sew...
...

cavalierking7 says "Incredible!" about Bernina 830

The new Bernina 830 is the most remarkable embroidery/sewing machine I have ever used. The features are usable, easy, mechanically and automatically correct, and fast! The fact that it has a huge bobbin, about 40% larger than any other embroidery machine on the market, makes it ideal for designs that require huge thread counts. It is quiet, and very stable. The screen set-up makes adding multiple designs and "regular" stitches to the "stitch-out' is extremely easy and well thought out. I can even SAVE these new design configurations and stitches as a single design!! The lighting in the sewing area is fantastic--7 halogen. The spacing under and accross the sewing area is very large and makes it very easy to manipulate large projects: quilts, jackets, wall hangings.

This machine is a work-horse with a couture attitude!

As a garment maker and design conscious sewer, I cannot imagine owning any other machine!
...

milly9 says "Greatest Machine for Sewing & Embroidery by far!!!" about Bernina 830

I just bought the Bernina 830. I owned the greatest machine prior to that time, the Bernina 200 upgraded to 730. But Bernina did it again, they beat themselves better by putting out this machine. Not only is the screen much easier to read, but the icons and the versatility of items on the screen are much easier to understand. The auto threader is a cinch and you just step on the peddle and go. Without having to using your hand (once you get used to the idea) for lifting of lowering pressure foot, you have it made. The embroidery is just tremendous, much faster and easier (how can that be??) I have not received the largest hoop yet, but when I do those quilt are going to have the prettiest embroidery designs on them. You can change the number of stitches you want for locking at the beginning and end of your work. You can change needle up or down very easily, and I just love the hover position of the presser foot at the beginning of stitching. Soooooo much more, you will just...
...
