This movie is based on the 11th Century Epic Poem Beowulf.  Many people have said it is not a good movie because of the characters, the plot, the violence, etc.  Okay, well, let's think about when it was originally written.  The storyline is supposed to be entertaining to -- dare I say it -- barbarians.  Storytellers were often overly dramatic in trying to astonish and shock their audiences, and keep their interest.  People had really hard lives and had little or no entertainment, and because of that, I believe people's senses of humor and ideas of entertainment in Old England were probably a little -- okay, a lot -- crude by today's standards.  This version is wonderful and recreates the poem in a way I believe the original writer would have greatly appreciated.  The CONS listed above, except for the "unreal graphics",  would apply to the original poem, not just to this movie.  Yet the poem is one of the greatest pieces of literature ever written.  Imagine that...???  The 2007 movie was exactly the way I picture over-the-top storytelling in the 11th Century.

As far as animation, this is one of the best movies I've seen.  There are some scenes that you almost forget are animated.  Yes, folks, it's that good!  The point of epic sagas or poems is to help the listeners visualize what happens in the story and Beowulf has done an awesome job!
