Benadryl Children's Allergy Relief

5

Benadryl Children's Allergy Relief is for more than just allergies. I give this to my kids when they have really bad colds as well. I think it helps with stuffy noses, coughing, itchy throats, and congestion better than other over the counter stuff and our pediatrician approved this for them before they turned 5. Most medicines have age restrictions of 5/6 and up. My daughter has allergies mainly in the springtime and this stuff always makes her itchy swollen eyes and runny nose better. She also is allergic to dogs and gets nasty hives when she gets around one, one teaspoon of this stuff and an hour later she is completely hive free. Supposedly this stuff makes your kids sleepy, mine must have missed that memo! It does not seem to affect them in that area, if anything makes them a lot more hyper. Overall I really like Benadryl Children's Allergy Relief and will continue to buy it until my kids are no longer little kids.

Safe, Effective Product for Children's Allergies

5

This is a great safe, effective product for children's allergies due to pollen from seasonal allergies like tree or flower pollen in spring or ragweed/goldenrod in the fall. Been using this product for six years for my kids and my mother used this for me when I was a kid. Also, works great to minimize rashes from poison oak or poison ivy and to relieve itching so we alway pack this for vacations, especially camping trips throughout the year. A must have for every family's medicine cabinet. Have heard of many people using while traveling on airplanes or on long car rides to help their children sleep, but have not tried this personally.

Medicine chest essential

I have learned that when you have kids, you need to always have certain things on hand. Children need various types of medicines and Children's Benadryl has been very helpful to my family. My oldest son suffers from seasonal allergies. We generally treat him with Children's Zyrtec, but if we spend time with my in-laws, we give him Benadryl when we come home. They live in the middle of farm country and he used to get colds or bronchitis when we would visit. Since I started using Benadryl after trips to see them, no more issues. Unfortunately, he likes the taste too much. Good thing he can't open safety caps! My youngest is very allergic to nuts. I have to keep Benadryl at home (doctor's orders) in case he eats any nuts and his face swells up. The few times this has happened the Benadryl was able to help him and I didn't have to resort to using the Epi-pen. Children's Benadryl is a great product for kids with allergies. I do recommend having your pediatrician give you the correct dosage for kids under 2 before using it if you have younger children.

Gotta Love Benadryl!

5

Every home should have some Benadryl in the medicine cabinet.  This has been used many, many times to help our kids in so many ways.  The doctor highly recommended using Benadryl when my son got stung twice by a wasp - once on the nose, and once on the hand.  Within 2 hours of using this medication, the swelling was nearly gone.  The itching and burning was much less as well.  I was so glad I had this on hand!  We have also used this to help my son sleep (please no hate mail here).  He was having alot of problems with night terrors.  Even with waking him up before the usual time, he would continue to have them.  Sometimes they would occur every hour or 2 at night.  Benadryl helped him break the cycle and sleep through the night again.  The doctor was also okary for using this method.  You have to weigh the costs and benefits of using any medication and in this case the doctor said the benefits outweighed the costs.  And yes, my son has outgrown his nightmares.

Makes you sleepy

Whenever I give benadryl to the kids its usually because of an insect bite that keeps itching or because of an allergy outbreak or something allergy related. Once example, one day my 3 year old daughter walked up to me from being outside and said "Mommy look at my fat ear", I was shocked and had no clue what could have happened but after further investigating we came to the conclusion that something had bite her on the ear. I called the doctor and after answering several questions he suggested that I give her some benadryl for the itch and swelling. It was alittle swollen for about a day or two and we stuck to what the doctor had told us to do which included making sure we cleaned the bite and giving her the benadryl when needed. The benadryl worked great but my only complaint is that it makes the kids sleepy. I don't like to administer any meds that cause drowsyness. Overall it works great.

A must have in every home

My son has a life threatening allergy to tree nuts and peanuts. More than once Benadryl has saved his life. He also suffers from allergies to dust, cats, and seasonal allergies. Benadryl works quickly to restore breathing and open airways. We always give him a dose of Benadryl before considering the epipen because Benadryl is so effective (but we also have the epipen on hand). When we first started giving Benadryl to him it would knock him out for a couple of hours. Now it doesn't have the same effect; he'll get sleepy but doesn't fall asleep.  One negative is that it doesn't have dosing for young children. I understand that it isn't meant for very young children, but as someone that depends on it, I have to write the dose on the box myself so I do not forget.  Another thing to be careful of is sometimes Benadryl has the opposite effect and a child can become hyper. Our younger son (had an early egg and strawberry allergy) gets wild and crazy whenever he has Benadryl. However, I would still give it to him in a second in order to prevent hives or any type of allergic reaction.

Benadryl Children's Allergy Relief Elixir is powerful

3

I am reviewing the product from experience. The last time I took Benadryl, I ended up sleeping most the day and not remembering anything I did or said up until falling asleep. I am a bit of a light-weight and so I had decided that the next time I needed some allergy relief, that I would go to the supermarket and purchase a bottle of the Benadryl Children's Allergy Relief Elixir so it wouldn't be as strong or hit me as hard. Well, to my dismay, I am not very happy with the experience I had while using this product. If anything, the flavor was the worst. I almost threw up the medicine immediately after taking it. In addition, this Benadryl product was strong as well. It is not as strong as the adult Benadryl capsules, however, I ended up crashing for 2-3 hours after taking it. That time though, I can remember sleeping and what was going on, I was just too tired to care. The Benadryl products work great though, I just believe they are a little too strong.

Benadryl is a must even if you don't think you will need it

Benadryl children's allergy relief is a staple of our medicine cabinet.  As most parents of young children know you are learning something new about your child everyday it seems.  Even though neither my husband nor I have any problematic allergies several of my children have had them pop up.  It never seems to fail that it happens either on the weekend when the doctors office is closed or in the evening after office hours one of our children will randomly come down with hives and be extremely uncomfortable.  Seeing as there are no breathing issues we would rather not take a trip to the emergency room so we keep benadryl on hand to be used in these cases.  The relief usually occurs with in about a half hour of taking a dose and even though it does not completely get rid of all the symptoms it does calm the itching enough to where the little one is comfortable.  The benadryl does tend to have a side effect of making the children sleepy.

helps clear up congestion

I had always used benadryl growing up when I had an insect bite or had a rash so I was shocked when the doctor told me to give my little one (6 months old) some baby benadryl when she was congested and had a runny nose - not due to allergies.  I was thankful though that I was directed to the medicine as it does help your little one.  If you follow the guidelines on the box though, you will need to contact your doctor to get the correct dosage for your little one if they are under 2 years old.  For mine, I gave her 1/2 tsp for each dose.  She took the medicine very easily - enjoyed the flavor and did not fuss or spit the medicine up at all.  I think next time I might get the dye free though since the cherry does get some things a bit pink if the baby drools some before all the mecinde is down.  I do not think the benadryl really made the baby too tired either - which is one thing I remember about taking benadryl myself.  This benadryl will definitely be in my medcine cabinet from here on out.

Benadryl Works wonders for kids with allergies!!

Childrens Benadryl works wonders for children with allergies!!  My daughter had a bad rash brought on by a allergic reaction to medication, I went to the hospital with her and she was admitted due to a horrible rash and other problematic systems she had.  The doctors put her on Benadryl and it seemed to ease her itchiness and she was a little less fussy.  Since that time I have used Benadryl for a number of allergy related problems and it has worked wonderfully!  It has stopped runny noses, sneezing and coughing due to throat irritation.  It does say on the bottle not to use if child is under two years of age, but if your child is having allergy problems, I would ask your doctor about the possibility of using Benadryl.  The doctors for my daughter gave her Benadryl and she was not even a year old, it did help and I keep a bottle if it around just in case I might need it!!  I would recommend Benadryl to any parent who has tried any other over the counter medicine which did not work!!  Of course consult your doctor before using it for your child, but once you get the ok and the correct dosage from your doctor your child will thank you!!
