Most HelpfulQuick View: I am really sick as I write this. Have been for a week. My nose is running like a faucet and my head feels like a lead balloon. I am swallowing stuff that is making me cough and feel sick to my stomach. I am a mess. And I can't take a good cold remedy because I can't take ANY decongestants...

Most HelpfulI recently had an allergic reaction to something and the first thing I did was reach for the pink Benedryl box. Well, I am an adult and my reaction was quite bad so I took 2 pills. Four hours later my head was spinning AND my reaction had no change. I took one more pill. Again, I knocked out and when...
read full review »I'm allergic to pollen, dust, cats, dogs, certain dyes/fragrances, and probably other things that I don't even know about. I also leave my windows open whenever the weather is nice, forget to dust most of the time, and run a cat/dog rescue out of my home. Okay, so I don't always make the best choices. In any case, I need something to stop the itching, sneezing, congestion, and occasional rash when my system revolts and says "enough is enough". When I'm a horrible allergic mess, I turn to Benadryl Allergy Caplets.
The main ingredient in these neon-pink pills is diphenhydramine HCl which is...

While vacationing on the coast of South Carolina, I enjoyed a bowl of "She-crab soup." I had never experienced a food allergy, so when I broke out in hives, terrible itching, and eventually had trouble breathing, I went to the hospital emergency room. After a shot of Benadryl, I recovered completely.
These days, I never travel without Benadryl. It just may save my life or someone else's in case of an allergic reaction.
Another benefit is that I've never had a problem...
read full review »My youngest son was born with a heart murmur and we were advised to be careful of OTC's that would increase his heart rate. Benadryl became our go to for everything from a runny nose, to poison ivy and hives. And yes it can cause drowsiness, but we found that usually after the first dose, that side effect really did not become bothersome for him. ( It may have helped that he was hyperactive, I'm not sure about that ). Many times even a cough was the result of post nasel drip...so Beneadryl even helped with that.
He's eighteen years old now, and has a child of his own. Benadryl is still in my cupboard...just...
read full review »When I've got lots of drainage and runny nose, Benadryl is the only thing that dries me out and keeps my nose from running. I only take it at night before bed because it gets me sleepy fast. I get a good night's rest, and the next day I'm much better. I usually take it 2-3 nights in a row for more complete relief.
Benadryl is a great product that provides quick relief of annoying allergy symptoms. As a teacher and mother, I keep a supply of Benadryl liquid in my classroom and cupboard for the unexpected allergy flare-ups caused by seasonal weather, pet dander, or bug bites.
For example, last summer, a child at my summer camp was handling the bunnies. When she was done, she forgot to go wash her hands and started rubbing her eyes. Almost immediately her face and skin around her eyes started to swell up with hives. I called her mother and asked if she'd allow me to give her daughter some Benadryl liquid to...

I grew up in Ohio and went through the pain of annual scratch tests and weekly allergy shots all through my childhood and teen years. By the time I left home for college, I felt like I'd had more than enough allergy shots to last a lifetime. I moved to Arizona for college and had a blissful couple of years with next to no allergies at all! Then slowly but surely all of those allergy symptoms started creeping back. I went to the allergist, had test spots all up and down my arms with only three spots that didn't respond. It turned out to be the test spots where they'd only used saline. The good...

As long as they make Benadryl life is alright! First, please take as directed on the box because this does cause you to become drowsy. My personal experience has been I get sleepier on an empty stomach so I definitely make sure food will be consumed before or after I take this pill. It has worked on my allergies to dust, dander, pollen and even OTHER medications. That has to be the most amazing part. I was taking a medication that...
read full review »Benadryl Allergy Medicine rocks! I love this medicine. It's over-the-counter, so it's easy to find. You don't even have to ask anyone for it. It does, however, make one sleepy (or at least it does to me). It provides fast and effective relief. I simply love this if I need it. And, if you have kids, they have a formula especially for them. Further, they don't even mind the taste. I was having all sorts of allergy problems, and someone recommended Benadryl Allergy Medicine. I was so glad they did. No need for Claritin or Zytec or any of the other medicines one may see. This one does...
read full review »Benadryl Allergy liquid cough syrup has no sugar and no alcohol. The dye free clear liquid goes down well. As a Type 2 diabetic, when I get sick I worry that the cold medicine will cause my glucose levels to skyrocket. Benadryl Allergy liquid cough syrup has worked well for me. I am able to keep my glucose levels within normal range while I use the cough syrup to eleviate the cough and sinus drainage that aggravates the cough.
This liquid works well for the occasional sinus allergies. The types of allergies best treated are the ones that cause drainage to the back of the throat. The excess mucus...

This allergy medication is wonderful; however, the main active ingredient is also that used in over the counter sleep aides. For me, this medication would work on those days which I didnt have to work or have trial. I now take Zrytec which actually does just as well if not better than Benadryl and since it is now over the counter, one can purchase Zyrtec rather than purchasing the Benadryl which is essentially a sleep aide medication with a pink label and titled Benadryl Allergy Medicine.
In scoring Benadryl, i would have to give it around 3 to 4 stars. It generally...

But 1 day after school starts, she is sneezing, has a runny nose and red eyes. So we get out the Benadryl and start the yearly regime. She takes one in the morning, and symptoms recede within 30 minutes. The problem is that the effects of that dose wear off in 4 hrs..... 6 if we're lucky. But she is at school for 7 hrs. and if you want to take medication at school you have to arrange for the nurse to give it to you at the office.... too much...
read full review »I''m seldom sick, but occasionally my sinuses get so stuffed up from allergies, that I have to take something. When that happens, I choose Benadryl.
Over the years,I've tried a variety of antihistamines and decongestants. Each one has made me feel worse rather than better. They dry out my sinuses and throat to the point that they burn. The result is a cure that's worse than the congestion. If the congestion was really bad, I'd let it keep me up all night rather than suffer through the dry, burning mucus membranes
Then I tried Benadryl. I found that it didn't leave the inside of my...
