This allergy medication is wonderful; however, the main active ingredient is also that used in over the counter sleep aides. For me, this medication would work on those days which I didnt have to work or have trial. I now take Zrytec which actually does just as well if not better than Benadryl and since it is now over the counter, one can purchase Zyrtec rather than purchasing the Benadryl which is essentially a sleep aide medication with a pink label and titled Benadryl Allergy Medicine.

In scoring Benadryl, i would have to give it around 3 to 4 stars. It generally has no adverse effects when taken with other drugs and has been around for much longer than newer allergy symptom treatments. (This means that more clinical tests have been done and more patients have taken the drug without any or very little symptoms). This allergy med is definatly better than Claritin; however, Zrytec is the best allergy med that doesnt put you to sleep as does Benadryl.
