Benadryl Allergy Medicine Review

My youngest son was born with a heart murmur and we were advised to be careful of OTC's that would increase his heart rate. Benadryl became our go to for everything from a runny nose, to poison ivy and hives. And yes it can cause drowsiness, but we found that usually after the first dose, that side effect really did not become bothersome for him. ( It may have helped that he was hyperactive, I'm not sure about that ). Many times even a cough was the result of post nasel drip...so Beneadryl even helped with that.

He's eighteen years old now, and has a child of his own. Benadryl is still in my cupboard...just in case.
