Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream Review

Ever since Stephen Colbert began talking about the ice cream flavor named after him, Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream, I have been on the lookout for the flavor at my local grocery store. All of my searches turned up nothing, however. Weeks dragged on until finally my husband found via an online webpage at colbernation.com that sightings of this ice cream had been reported at a local Super Wal-Mart and at the Ben and Jerry's ice cream shop in the Providence area. We only found an empty shelf over the "Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream" tag at the Super Wal-Mart, so we headed to Ben and Jerry's and found one pint of the flavor left in stock.

The flavor itself is a vanilla base with fudge covered waffle cone pieces and caramel mixed in. My husband loves intense chocolate flavored ice creams, so he wasn't as impressed with the flavor as I was. I took one bite of Americone Dream and fell in love. The ice cream is riddled with plenty of pieces of chocolate covered waffle cone, and the sweet caramel is plentiful as well. I love Ben and Jerry's vanilla-based ice cream flavors. Their vanilla flavor is sweet and creamy and not too overpoweringly intense. I had a tough time stopping at just one bowl of Americone Dream!

Cat's Bottom line on Americone Dream
We bought the ice cream just for fun, but I'll be trying to find it again because it was so delicious! At 280 calories with 15 grams of fat per 1/2 cup serving, it's best as an occasional treat. Don't feel too guilty though: Stephen Colbert is donating the proceeds from the sale of his ice cream to the Stephen Colbert Americone Dream fund to support charities providing aid to veterans, disadvantaged children and environmental causes.
