Belkin Wireless G Plus Router Review Summary

The community is decidedly divided on the Belkin Wireless G Plus Router. Our population of reviewers has mixed feeling about this diminutive router; while one reviewer praised the wireless router, stating that “Right out of the box, this router is easy to set up using the software (CD) included in the box,” another mentioned that the router’s range was insufficient, and should be avoided in two-story homes. The 2.4GHz Belkin Wireless G Plus Router offers 802.11B/G wireless connectivity as well as (4) 10/100 Base-T Ethernet ports and offers both WEP and the latest (WPA/WPA2) 64-bit/128-bit wireless encryption security protocols. Read what our reviewers have to say about this router as well as the Apple Airport Extreme Wireless Router and the Linksys WRT54G Wireless G Router.

When I set up the wireless connection in our current house, I had to go through the process of purchasing both a wireless device and a router to get it all started.  The router that I went with was the Belkin Wireless-G Router with a 4-Port Switch that was on special at the local Best Buy.  Compact...

The Belkin Wireless G-Router is definately priced right. However, the funcionality and dependability are not quite so great. As soon as you install it, you will have internet but it will consistently crash until you can get your firewall re-configured. Also, if there is alot of phone usage in your home, it interferes with the signal.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to get the software to work on my pc. I have re-installed the belkin software 5-6 times (each time I did this I had to reinstall my network card as well) and it works for about a day - then malfunctions. I've even tried downloading...

Having been a co-designer of this technology age,  it is quite EASY to configure and to Operate but the surprising fact is that the signal has a larger Penetration capability than the normal distance which one would expect.  I estimate the distance is almost an eighth of a mile. more than the 400 ft distance one would expect as its range.

Though the Wireless-G version work well it IS an improvement on their past products...

For under $40 it is well worth the expenditure...

REMEMBER  its a 4 port Wireless Router  which is a Firewall and a 4 port HUB inside this tiny package and a Wireless "G"...

When I first purchased this wireless router to connect to my dsl router, I was confused.  I immediately called the Belking support and they walked me through every step making it easy to set up.  I haven't had any problems with this router, but I'm sure if I did I would get the same great support as I did in the beginning.

I just purchased the Belkin Wireless Router G the other night because I am expecting a laptop today and want both computers set up together. When I got home and opened up the box to install it, I was disappointed because the manual and the cd were not in the box. Looks like the box had previously been opened, and I purchased it at Walmart. My first experience with calling customer service was a nightmare, I ended up in some country where they don't speak English very well and the gentleman didn't understand me very well either. He kept telling me that customer service would send me out a cd and... read full review »

This is a cheap inexpensive way to get online but it has some issues when used with Windows XP if it ever gets unplugged.  It is a very average product.  Not great but not horrid.  If you are looking for a router for a computer that is never going to be disturbed, moved, bumped or used by kids, it's fine and you can't beat the price.  However, my kids are always running around, bumping into it, and my husband is always changing and upgrading our system which creates problems using it.

I purchased several of these routers and set them up for customers with great results.  The router is small has a good range and js easily set up.  I do not use the cds that come with the router since I have been setting them up since before they included install discs.  The range is very good but it still is dependent upon the enviroment.  Things like microwave and lots of wall will decrease the range.  All in all a good router I purchased for under $40 a very good deal.

This product worked for about 3 or 4 months.  Now it won't work unless we reboot the computer, unplug the router and modem and turn everything off, then on and plug it all back in again.

Then it'll work for about 6 hours before it does it all again.

My neighor (3 houses down) has a Linksys router that routinely will provide internet access for my computer, while my router won't from 10 feet away.

I wish I would've shelled out the extra money for the Linksys router.

I bought this router when I got my wii. I set it up easily, and it worked for a whileand then when I had issues with it I called customer service. I had trouble understanding what the man was saying and he acted as if the problems were my fault. I ended up getting frustrated and I ixed the problem myself. If you good at troubleshooting yourself it not a bad buy.

This product is very easy to use and set up. Basically just pop in the CD, run the program, then plug in the router. Step by step directions were so easy to follow. It works great for simply needing the wireless in the house. The product was priced great. Less than $25. It also is very compact and takes up very little space.

After having dialup for years, I feel like I am just flying using broadband and this wireless router. My daughter and I are both on line, and pages seem to just fly. This Christmas, my grandson is going to be hooked up with "fly power" for his computer, too. He is autistic/bipolar and loves things that move fast and work right.

Needed to go wireless and wanted to do it myself.
Easy and fast set up.  You can password protect your wireless so people can't log on with you without permission.
If you have other computers in the home not wireless ready you can also use the old fashioned cable.
Easy, affordable, perfect.

when i bought this router, i thought it was great. within a few weeks, i started experiencing difficulties with it. it would freeze the internet connection and would take forever to reset it up again.  the customer service is okay when i called for help with the issue, but it was not worth the trouble
