I found the Belkin TuneSync for iPod docking station while checking Woot.com one day. They had it on sale for a fantastic price, but it retails for as low as $35. I have needed a USB hub for my computer for a long time, and since the price at Woot was about what a new hub would cost, I decided to purchase it.

About the Belkin TuneSync for iPod
Essentially this product combines the functionality of a five port USB 2.0 hub with a docking station for your iPod. The dock is flat and available in any color you want, so long as its white. Belkin provides inserts for all the major iPod styles: iPod 5G, 4G, 3G, photo, nano, mini and shuffle. The five USB 2.0 ports are placed on the rear of the dock, along with a power jack and a USB connector to connect the device to your computer. Belkin also includes a speaker jack so you can hook speakers directly up to the TuneSync itself.

Installation and use of the TuneSync station is incredibly easy. Finally I have enough USB ports for my computer! When devices and the iPod are plugged in, the front of the TuneSync station lights up with red and blue lights. My iPod syncs flawlessly from my TuneSync and because the design is so attractive and functional, the clutter on my desk is minimal.

Cat's Bottom Line
If you have an iPod and need more USB ports, here's the answer to all of your problems. The Belkin TuneSync station for the iPod recharges and syncs, while providing USB functionality at the same time. And it looks good doing it! I highly recommend this product.

Yup, you're right. All the newer iPods and iPhones are USB, not firewire.

Older iPods are firewire. The short hand is: If it can show pictures it's USB.

This last comment is a bit confusing to me, as with all four iPods that we have in our home, all four sync to our 2 Macs through the USB ports. To me, it would be a completely useful product, as I don't use Firewire.

It might be worth cautioning Mac users since most iPods sync to Macs over Firewire and not USB; thus rendering this product less useful in conjunction with a Mac vs. a Windows system. Otherwise it sounds like a very handy USB hub -- more functionality than most!

Cat - Great review. Also, for people buying new systems, the new Dell monitors have two USB ports in the monitor which I have found very helpful.
