Count on Belkin for Reliability and Support

4

I've owned my Belkin router for almost two years. Upon setting it up initially, I found the instructions to be cryptic, and, I possessing a phobia of phoning tech specialists, avoided contacting Belkin's support, but finally got it going. It worked fine for about a year. Then problems. We had a lot of devices pulling on it, but then again, it is a N+ router, so that's what it's made for. Still, we'd get conflict messages, that included the same IP address being used, access point problems, etc. Virtually each time one person was successfully online wirelessly, another person in the family would be kicked off the internet. Again, my phobia arose and I avoided calling Belkin and instead got on the phone with my internet service provider. This was a bit of a joke, as they could only get me up and running while hard-wired. I caved, and called Belkin...and I am so glad I did. My only complaint was that the tech was hard to understand due to his/her accent. Still, they knew their stuff and after walking me through it for about 30 minutes, everything worked perfectly. It was basically that my router needed a firmware update, just as DVD/Blu-Ray players do. I continue to enjoy the reliability of my modem and of knowing that the company has a knowlegeable staff that can help with any problems. I recommend this product!

Great router, lots of features

4

This is the fourth router I have owned in the past couple of years. My computer is constantly online and I also have a laptop, Nintendo Wii and a cell phone that also frequently online so a good router is a priority. I bought this router to replace the last one that burnt out and so far this one has lasted longer than many of the others combined. I am very happy with the features and look of this device. Some of my favorite features of this router are the on-line set up and the USB port. Through the online menu I have been able to setup passwords, permissions and even port forwarding. It is simple and easy to understand and the help menues are well written and thorough. The USB port in the back is a great option and allows me to plug in my external hard drive so that I can access it from either my main PC or from my laptop. Even though this is not cheap, I would recommend this product to anyone who is tired of wasting time and money on cheaper devices that die on them.

After initial problems, works perfectly

Bought this router online. When it arrived, I set it up but could not get it to work. After an hour on the phone with tech support, they deemed it as DOA and shipped a replacement unit. Fortunately that unit has worked just fine. Setting up our network was quick and easy. We do not have a large house (~1300 sq ft), but coverage is great to all parts, even though the router is located in one corner. Our household uses a number of different wireless devices (iTouch, 3 Laptop PCs, 1 Desktop PC, Playstation 3, Samsung Omnia smartphone) and have had no problems with connectivity.  Appearence wise, the Belkin N+ has two antennas and must stand vertically. There a number of different lights indicating system status. The router also features a USB connection, in which you can plug in a hard drive so that all computers on the network can access that drive. Overall, (after getting a working unit) I am very pleased with this device.

My expeience with Belkin's N+ Wireless Router

4

I got this router from my coworker -- he didn't need this so I bought it from him. It was easy to set up and I got it up and running within 15 minutes. It's nice to have a N+ wireless speed. I connect to this wirelessly on my laptop and I'm very happy with the speed. I did not notice any significant latencies when I connect to it wirelessly. The connection via ethernet cable is flawless. The router has a USB port for external hard-drive connection. That is a nice touch. I already have an external harddrive plugged into my computer though, so I haven't used this feature. I plan on setting it up some time in the future. I assume it's going to be as easy to set up as all the other features. This router has played nice with my cable modem. I have been having issues with Comcast these days with the really cold weather. The router has seamlessly reconnected to the internet for me whenever the connection has come back. I don't have to keep rebooting it like I have to with some of my other routers in the past.

Belkin N+ Wireless Router Good For Small Homes

The Belking N+ Wireless Router is good for small homes.   We used this in a smaller "open-concept" home and it works well.   Set up was relatively easy as long as you follow the directions carefully.

My Belkin N+ Wireless Router transmits a strong, secure signal.

Prior to my purchase of the Belkin N+ Wireless Router, I looked at a few other brands, but I found that the Belkin product appeared to have more features at a lower price than the others. As an internet addict with little technical knowledge, I was surprised by the ease with which I was able to install the router in my home.  The clear and explicit installation instructions facilitated the internet access of several computers within a matter of a few minutes. This router is equipped with several options to ensure the production of a signal that is secure. There were pleasant surprises associated with this router.  I found that the USB port gave me data storage and file sharing options that I had not even expected.  I was favorably impressed by the prompt and knowledgeable service provided by Belkin Customer Service as they assisted me in achieving optimal performance of my router. While this is my first experience in the use of a wireless router, I am quite pleased with my decision to purchase a Belkin N+ Wireless Router and confident in recommending this product to other users.

We use the Belkin router for a desktop, laptop, Ipods and WII.  It has been very reliable and we have not had problems with our wireless devices finding the router.  In all it was a good product for the price.  In fairness we have not used the security option.  When we did use the security we had more problems with wireless devices being able to connect.  Once we removed the security we have had no problems with connectivity.  I am not sure I would recommend doing a non security option for someone who has sensitive info involved.  We use ours for internet play and social networking.  we also live in a secluded area where the fear of others getting on our network is not a fear.

Like-Hate relationship with Belkin N+ wireless router.

I don't have time to tell you the details, but here's the bottom line: from time to time I have to reset the actual wireless router to get it to work. Why doesn't it connect automatically since everything already been setup correctly!? Yet when I move my laptop from room to room it will not  find it sometimes, then I have to go to the router then actually unplug it for it to work. The reset button doesn't really work at least half of the time. Well for a cheap priced device you really do get what you payed for. I really do hate this device and would rather prefer the Linksys which costs more than others over the Belkin any day. Unfortunately this is what I can afford for now.

Good price

We got this cause it was a little cheaper than our usual brand that we trust and did seem to offer a little more than our old one.  So far, we had quite a bit of trouble trying to get it going, had to call Tech support and we did get really great service through them.  They solved the problem we were having and just like that we were connected.  Have had to reset the router once already though, so we are still on guard about whether or not it was a wise choice.  We will see..... Edit on the router, we are taking this back due to being kicked from the internet often and having to reset the router whenever this happens.  I would suggest spending the money on a better one.

Conntect all your houseld computers for a secure storage network

This wireless N router replaced a Linksys wireless N router I bought that was having trouble communicating with other wireless devices throughout the house.  Not only was the Belkin a less expensive unit, it is a great router and SO MUCH MORE!  With this unit I have been able to set up my external hard drive as a network attached storage device (NAS) so all the computers in my home can access the same information simultaneously.  I have a total of 5 computers that are online in my home at any given time, so being able to store all the music in one place saves lots of storage space on all the latops. It was not a necessity, but now that the NAS is hooked up, I can't imagine life without it!  The setup was very simple and I was able to get communication up and running on all my devices (wireless printer, NAS, laptops, wireless speakers, etc) in less that 1 hour and did not require any technical expertise, though basic understanding would help speed things up!
