I often use my laptop computer on ... well, my lap. The heat coming from the bottom of the laptop would make my thighs very hot and red. My sister told me about cooling pads that were available just for that reason. My husband purchased the Belkin Laptop Cooling Pad from Office Max for me for Christmas. It was on sale from $29.99 to $19.99. This was a purchase well worth the price he paid.

The Facts

  • 1 Year Warranty
  • Gentle slope improves typing comfort and reduces wrist strain
  • Raises screen height to help reduce neck strain
  • Fits conveniently within laptop bag
  • Patented wave design enhances cooling capabilities
  • Convenient storage compartment for USB cable when not in use
  • Grips pads to prevent laptop from slipping

My Experience

This cooling pad has a wave design, is very light and has a single fan. There are gray rubber grips on both ends of this pad to prevent the laptop from slipping around as I type. They are effective and I get no movement. I was a little bit unsure as to how well this cooling pad would reduce the heat because it only had a single fan. I use this pad daily and can tell you that the single fan does a fantastic job. If I am going to be typing at a table, the cooling pad has a built in stand that simply folds out to allow the air to circulate properly. My laptop stays very cool. There are no bulky adapters, just a small USB cord that plugs into my laptop. The only problem that I have had so far is when I am attempting to remove the laptop and the cooling pad from my lap, the cooling pad is smaller and a bit difficult to grab.  Being small though, allows the cooling pad to fit comfortably in my laptop carrying case.

My Final Viewpoint

The Belkin Laptop Cooling Pad is an effective little gadget that has made using my laptop much more comfortable and easier to use. I recommend this product and am giving it a 4 star rating. I would have went with 5 but the difficulty I had taking the laptop and the cooling pad off my lap together is enough for me to remove a star.

Cool beans! I didn't even know there *was* such a creature...thanks! My Sunday treat for myself is to hang out in bed in the early AM (I'm an early riser, my family thinks I'm weird)...put on a movie, and surf around on the laptop...this will seriously help. Thanks!

I should get one. I have never been able to get settled and actually use a laptop like a laptop.

Wonderful !! I didn't know there was a product for this problem. I've got to get one. I end up fanning myself after using my laptop only about 30 min. Thanks!!!

Thank You Laura! I knew there had to be something like this product out there! Now I know! Also, there's more and more data about the dangers of too much EMR out there, and WiFi is a source. Protecting ourselves from discomfort AND cell damage is a good thing!

I like mine (different brand) but now I need a 17 inch one for my big laptop. They are great though. It's murder in the summer with the hot laptop on your legs. I got a TAN from it. I swear! This was before I got the cooling pad, of course.

Gotta get one of these!! Sometimes I'm typing away with my laptap in my lap and suddenly realize I'm sweating from the heat! Not good. Probably really unhealthy too.

With so many people complaining about the heat from laptops I bet this will be a popular product.

Sounds like an indispensible little gadget for the notebook addict...

What a great idea! I use my laptop at the desk most of the time because of this same situation - getting too hot on my legs. Thanks for the great tip ~

I'm getting a laptop in March so I'll be looking for one of these.

I need one of these! I use my laptop about 90% of the time. Ron
