I've painted many a room over the years.  Have never used cheap paint or brushes. Used to love the paint from Pergament - a now defunct store. Recently, with my son-in-law who is a painter extraordinaire, we painted a huge kitchen - yellow and white> a great room used two colors  a celadon and burgundy with white trim, a bathroom- in Winter Lake blue -and white,  and most recently a bedroom.

First off the LR colors, obtained by scanning color from a fabric came out great.  Painting with the flat paint- and if you ever painted anything in the red color family- you know how tough it can be to get a professional look- those walls came out beautiful. My son-in-law did a superior job.Painting two doors- already white- with white semi-gloss was NOT a picnic.  Used Behr primer undercoat for enamel and primed in two coats, always allowing for sufficient drying time. Next the semi gloss- which required FOUR COATS!! The semi-gloss is a bit on the runny side-had to constantly be corrected because after a few minutes, I noticed the paint would just drip- and  there were dripping  spots which had to be corrected. Mind you, I was using $12 paint brushes. Had the same issue with a kitchen pantry door-which was a light tan. Used this same paint on new crown molding and new chair rail. These were set up on sawhorses in my garage, so I did not have the same issue with the paint running and dripping- possibly because  the pieces were horizontally laid out.

I am a careful painter who likes to pay attention to detail, I don't just glop the paint on. I was very dissatisfied and not a happy camper working with this paint.

Next the BR- I chose Viking Blue- it's on the cover of one of their paint chart brochures.  The walls were washed first- allowed to thoroughly dry. Next used their primer undercoat for enamel to prep for FLAT ENAMEL finish. (The walls had many scuff marks left by previous owner and looked...well...dirty) One of these walls had wallpaper, which I stripped and then scrubbed that wall to get off all glue residue. I chose to prime twice, because the walls were so dirty and cleaning them only scratched the surface AND I wanted the color adhesion to be even on all four walls. Remember one wall did have wallpaper.  Next the paint of the Viking Blue: Initially the paint looked lighter , when wet, than the chosen color. The first coat dried and the color did not seem true; but any painter knows-one coat coverage is a fairy tale.  The coverage after the first coat is always uneven, so I figured the second coat would produce much better results.  I am so unhappy with the results. The color blue that it finally dried was not even close to what was on the chart. It was much deeper and darker.  Mind you I had taped various colors from the chart to the wall before painting, viewed them in various stages of light, before choosing this shade. I then took the paint home from the store and applied a sample "swash" to one of the walls- seemed a bit lighter than my chosen shade, but not so off that I would not like it. I was really pissed off at the finished color. Thought maybe, I was crazy, went back to Home Depot, and used their interactive computerized color chart. I "painted" a room in this Viking Blue and BINGO- the color nowhere even remotely matches except that it's blue. Ditto for their online interactive program where you can actually upload your photo of your room. Don't even waste your time. I paid for and got a refund of this Behr  inter-active online program.

The bathroom - in Winter Lake blue came out great-color was true as on the chart. The Kitchen in Pismo Dunes yellow- also came out great with true color match. Again the semi gloss trim on the doors and woodwork- well I just cannot recommend their semi gloss. Behr Paint is just so-so quality. Looking for another superior brand that produces quality results in both flat and enamel finishes. Painting requires a lot of prep work and strict attention to detail,.To me the amount of TIME you put into the project is worth money. Since I now have to do the room over- I lost a lot of both. Behr paint is just so-so.
