Beggar BASSETT HOUND —

Basset Poodle mix breed dogs. When I was five years old my father bought my mother a basset poodle mix.  She looked like a short big eared beagle, until she was bathed.  Her hair then got real curly like a poodle.  We named her Cleo Patra.  She was the family pet that we catered too and loved for the next 14 years.  She was a fertile little thing giving us nine litters of puppies with 6 - 8 puppies in each litter.  Every-time my parents went to have her spayed, they found her to be expecting yet again. We kept one of the puppies from each litter and were rewarded with another lovable kid friendly pup to love and who loved us.  Although full blooded bassets tend to be a bit smelly and very slobbery, Cleo and her pups never had those issues.  They were all smart, easily trained, well mannered dogs. They were all friendly, loving, and companionable.  My mother took to one of the pups who became her biggest truest companion when my father was forced to take a job in another city and could not bring her along.  We found the basset/poodle mix breed to be a great guard dog as well.
