Bee Movie Review Summary

It took an animated film about a bee to bring Jerry Seinfeld back to comedy. This time, instead being flanked by Elaine, George, and Kramer, he's surrounded by the vocal talents of Renee Zellweger and Chris Rock. Overall, Viewpoints reviewers are recommending Bee Movie, but a few were nonplussed, feeling this animated flick about a bee that wants more out of life "failed to satisfy." Of the many that liked the film, they enjoyed the "eco-consciousness," as well as the overall message of how we should treat all living things. With the thought that Bee Movie is great for school-aged children, Viewpoints parents are split on the value of this film for preschoolers, with some just liking the fact that it was clean, and others finding it went too far above preschoolers heads, leaving them bored. Adults felt "Seinfeld's world view and sense of humor make Bee Movie a joy."

In the glut of CGI animated feature films that have been released over the past few years, studios have developed certain gimmicks to try to make their movies stand out from the other flicks about talented penguins and snarky fairy tale creatures. Chief among these techniques is casting big name celebrities to provide voices for the characters. — Over the Hedge would probably be just as good a movie with someone else besides Bruce Willis playing a cartoon raccoon, but having stars in the cast can get a movie added attention. Besides, the actors really enjoy the easy paycheck they get… read full review »

What can I say —  Well the previews wear the best part of the movie. Jerry Seinfeld is one of my favorites but this was not his best work. He can do so much better I was disappointed and so wear the kids that walk out on me because they had better thing to do that to watch a woman & a bee be friends its just not real or should I say would you like your kids going out side trying to befriend a bee? Don't think so.. —… read full review »

This was a great movie, the concept was really neat too. My kids loved it and we bought it on DVD and we watch it at least once a week. It was hard listening to Jerry Seinfeld so much but I was able to overlook that.  The only concept that was a little strange to me was the bee talking and interacting with the human because I"m afraid of being stung by a bee, but maybe that's just me.  … read full review »

I usually really like kid's movies, and I'm a Jerry Seinfeld fan, so I thought I'd love this movie.  But, it was just okay.  It started out pretty good, it had some funny parts, but all in all not my favorite movie.  My children didn't even care for it that much.  My youngest, who is six, had a hard time sitting through the entire thing.  I'd recommed waiting for the… read full review »

When I saw the previews for The Bee Movie on television I knew this was one movie I would have to take my daughter too.  She loves going to the movies, but there are very few that she will actually sit through the whole show.  The Bee Movie was one of them that she didn't even leave her seat. —      The movie is all about a bee's life.  The main bee, with the voice of Jerry Seinfeld, is determined to leave the bee colony and explore the real world.  All the bees frown upon this, as this can be very dangerous.  He… read full review »

Ugh.  I couldn't even think of any Pros to include in my review.  What happened to this movie??  I feel like it probably had a good start in the development phase, but something went horribly wrong before production began.  — — In the spirit of full disclosure, let me say that I am not, and have never been a fan of Jerry Seinfeld.  I couldn't stand his show, nor his standup.  I accepted this going into this movie, and set my expectations for enjoyment appropriately low.  At least, I thought to myself, the other actors and script writers will be… read full review »

This is a good movie for the whole family.  It has a message of eco-consciousness  (sp?) and is entertaining and funny.  My husband and I laughed at different parts than the boys (ages 4 and 7 ) because there is humor that only adults would get in parts. The writing reminds me of a muppet movie which is a compliment because I love them.  Jerry Seinfeld does an excellent voice over and its almost impossible to imagine this film being any good without his talent.  I'm not a big Seinfeld fan but I did enjoy this movie.  The boys favorite part was when the bee was… read full review »

The previews of this movie made me not want to see it -- it sounded like a Seinfeld vehicle, rather than a well thought out show.  An article at the New York Times changed my mind, and I went. — It's a complicated, wandering story about a bee who wants more than hive-life can offer him.  When he gets a chance to stretch his wings, he immediately breaks Bee Law Number One, and then he falls in love with a human.  — Along the way, the little bee learns how the wider world effect his little hive, and eventually, how his little hive effects the wider world. … read full review »

We saw this over Thanksgiving weekend. It was a cute, fun, family film. — My youngest is 5 and did get a little bored at times, but was easily drawn back into it, and a bucket of popcorn helps. :)  I say it's for elementary and up because the dialog is a little more involved than a preschooler may care for.  The rest of us enjoyed it (my other kids are 7, 11,) and altho it isn't one we would necessarily go out and buy 'on release', it is a safe, clean, fun film and made for a great afternoon.  — There was some humor in it that was for the adults, but not at… read full review »

While I have to admit I don't always like animated films, I really enjoyed this one.  Jerry Seinfeld did a lot of interesting promotions for the movie, which piqued my interest.  The one thing I wish animated films would do is show the character at the beginning of the film with the name of the person doing the voice.  I always have at least one voice I pull my hair out trying to figure out who it is. I guess I could go to IMDB prior to the show, but it would be hard to see the printout in the dark. —  In this movie, I especially liked Chris Rock's voice.  He is… read full review »

I read a lot of reviews about this movie before we went to see it.  I went with my mother and my daughter; who is nearly 5 years old.  The reviews were mostly bad on this movie.  I was skeptical of the film after reading the reviews, but my daughter kept talking about wanting to see it.  Overall I have to say it wasn't a bad film.  My daughter laughed alot and I laughed some myself.  Sure it wasn't as good as some of the Dreamworks movies, but it is a kids movie and it was cute.  I don't think I would purchase the movie, but I would rent it to see it again… read full review »

such a cute movie! The kids loved it- I even liked watching it. they are already asking for this for their dvd collection when it comes out. Not a huge fan of Jerry Seinfield, but he did great in this movie. I think it gave my kids a different opinion of bees and they aren't as scared of them anymore, especially when I remind them the bee might be a friend of "Barry's." Gives a great message to kids about treatment of all living things and the reason we need some of these animals or insects. I think it sunk in more for my 5 year old than the younger ones, but when they get older they will… read full review »
