Bedinabox.com Memory Foam Mattress —
We were looking to upgrade from our Queen sized mattress to a King due to our 2 dogs and often cat sleeping with us. Additionally our old mattress was either just old or too firm, but I noticed that I was always tossing and turning b/c my hips hurt. We went to Sleepy's about 3 times to test out mattresses and although my husband likes a very firm mattress, I wanted something softer and we both seemed to like the memory foam type mattresses. I hated going into Sleepy's as everything is really expensive and I felt that sales people were like used car salesmen. Finally we decided on Bed in the Box, we got the Bed-in-a-Box PacDown Plus 11" mattress -- although they recommend the 11" inch only if your weight for 2 people was over 400, we are not, but figured with the dogs at 50 lbs each that would put us there. We ordered it on Dec 22nd and received it Dec 30th - a week later. Although the box seemed to go through a lot, the mattress is wrapped in plastic and then put in a heavy weight plastic bag with a handle. The mattress pad comes in it's own zippered plastic bag. Getting it up our spiral staircase was interesting as it's very heavy and big, but we did it. We set up our new King sized platform bed and put the mattress on it first and then took off the inner plastic. It's fun watching it expand in front of your eyes and any creases or bumps disappear. We left it for a few hours just to make sure it totally expanded and could air out a bit. It had only a slight smell when I put my nose right up to it, but didn't notice anything just in the air. We put the cover on it and sheets I have never smelled anything since. We both get a great nights sleep, it's super comfortable, and I've been sleeping in more than an hour than I usually do, and my hips don't hurt and don't cause me to toss and turn! I have not noticed any warmer sleeping that I believe some people say about memory foam type mattresses. Even my husband who states he'd be happy sleeping on the floor as he likes it that firm says he likes the mattress. Although you sink in, it's firm at the same time. I like the extra height of the 11" as well, it was taller than our previous mattress and the sheets we got (standard King) fit perfectly over it, no special sheets required.
