Bedinabox.com Memory Foam Mattress —

One month ago I purchased an 11" PacDown Memory Foam Mattress + Foundation from Bedinabox.com. After about 2 nights I started waking up with back pain, which was mildly disconcerting as I had just spent over $700 on a high-end mattress in the hopes of REDUCING back pain. I decided to do some experimenting. After a month, I can now say that the goose-down cover is the source of the back-pain. First of all, when I bought the mattress, I thought the goose down cover was a part of the mattress. Not so. Bedinabox.com simply includes a goose-down mattress topper in the box with your mattress (very much like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Pike-Street-Overfilled-Microplush-Mattress/dp/B000VESM46/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1231098082&sr=8-2). The mattress topper included is not meant for a memory foam mattress. The product itself is good-- it is a high quality mattress cover and it is very soft, but it inhibits the memory foam from functioning properly. Memory foam is built to mold to your body contours and thus support the areas that need support the most, but the goose-down cover simply dulls the effect of the memory foam by acting as an intermediate between you and the mattress. About 2 weeks ago I removed the cover and have slept on the mattress itself with just a sheet over it. I wake up happy and refreshed every day with no back pain!

Concerning the cover, here is my advice to you the prospective buyer: buy the PacBed Original Plus (it is the exact same thing as the PacDown 11" except there is no goose down mattress cover included). and THEN assess whether or not you want a mattress topper. You can always buy one seperately if you decide you want one (and you can probably get a better deal on it as a nice topper runs about $70 and Bedinabox tacks on another $100 for this one).

Next, I also bought the mattress with a foundation, and the foundation is TERRIBLE. It is literally just a wooden framework with a piece of cardboard taped on top. They include a flimsy cover to hide the foundation's unsightliness but it is no excuse.  A box spring would look better, and it would be more sturdy. Box springs without mattresses are cheap too, so I would also recommend going that route instead of buying the Bedinabox.com Mattress Foundation.

These complaints aside, the mattress is NICE! It is exceptionally soft and one can't help but love the way memory foam molds to you as if the mattress was built specifically for your body. I'm 6'1", 170 lbs and the mattress fits me perfectly. I honestly could've gone with the 9" mattress and been just fine, but I thought the extra 2" was probably a good long-term investment- as I expect it will offer more support for a longer time with more resiliency foam.

All in all, this is an excellent, excellent mattress. After getting to the bottom of the down cover mystery, I am very happy with the purchase and Bedinabox.com comes highly recommended by me.
