I purchased this bed after comparing all of the memory foam vendors through various web reviews (Sleep Like the Dead was most helpful). Have nothing but positive things to say! The mattress is incredibly comfortable. My husband has shoulder pain and is able to sleep on his side with no problem. I tend to be warm at night, and the gel keeps me from overheating like other memory foams can do. We don't wake each other with tossing and turning any more either. I had a 2" memory foam topper on a mattress before this, and can say there is no comparison. The full memory foam mattress is worlds better. And it is fun watching it expand! The foundation was very easy to put together; I did it by myself in less than an hour. There was no chemical smell at all, and as an asthmatic, I am very sensitive to that. I highly recommend the mattress and Bed in a Box overall!

It has been three months since our Bed-in-A-Box, Serenity Gel top mattress and the Bed-in-A-Box foundation. It's been a fantastic sleeping experience. We had an old spring style mattress which we'd put a pillow top cover on but it still caused hot spots, back aches, sore arms and hips plus we'd wake up frequently from the uncomfortable sleeping conditions. This all went away our first night on the Serenity Gel Top mattress. We slept the entire night without once waking up. When we did wake up, there were no aches or sore limbs. The bed had contoured to our form and provided an excellent sleep experience. We'd researched several different mattress models; springs, air, hybrid and foam. We'd gone to stores and did the "lay down test" and we were leaning toward a Posturepedic when we stumbled across a consumer report on the Bed-in-A-Box. This led to further research and finding a Bed-in-A-Box store near us. There is only one in Ohio and it was an hour and a half away. We made the drive and did the "lay down test" on all the Bed-in-A-Box models. We were sold within minutes on the Serenity Gel. At roughly half the price, it was an easy decision. A few days later, the bed and foundation arrived at our door step. We ordered a King size mattress and had decided to do the set up on our own. The king size mattress is very heavy and difficult to move up steps if you are doing it alone. I did it but it was comical to watch and took me longer to get up two flights of stairs than the entire assembly process took. The instructions for the foundation assembly are pretty basic. The king size model is a little heavy to maneuver solo but it can be done without too much of a challenge. There isn't a lot you can mess up on the foundation assembly and all the tools you need come with the foundation. The only challenge I encountered was determining the difference between the sides and the top/bottom of the foundation. For the king size model only a couple of inches separate the two and it is difficult to "eye-ball". This is important because when you start putting on the foundation cover, you need to make sure you put the drawstrings on the bottom. Otherwise it won't go on and if you try to force it could be possible that you'd damage the cover. The total assembly time was just under 30 minutes and I read through the instructions before I started. The mattress is in "a box" but inside the box the mattress is in a large duffle carrier. This made it easier to place on the foundation. It's important to get the mattress lined up properly BEFORE cutting into the vacuum sealed bag. Once you break that seal it starts to expand. Be ready to work quickly to get all the plastic covering off. It's easy to do alone but if you have help it will be very easy to handle. The mattress was completely expanded in a matter of a few minutes and was ready to sleep on. Over the next few days to a week, it "softened" a little more as additional air filled the foam but the size didn't change. As I mentioned earlier, the sleep experience on this mattress is excellent! The cool gel keeps any hot spots from happening but doesn't make the bed "cold". We love it! I can't wait until summer, I expect the bed will provide a cool, comfortable sleep experience. My wife and I use to both wake up with aches and pains, those are gone now. It is really a rarity that we sleep in an uncomfortable position or have any soreness upon waking. Another benefit, I tend to roll over and move a lot. This use to wake up the Mrs from the movement of the mattress. With this mattress, my wife isn't affected by my movements. We'd read there may be "off gassing" for foam mattresses. We didn't encounter any "off gassing". There was ZERO unusual smell associated with the bed. Without a doubt this has been our best bed purchase EVER and we didn't have to pay excessive amounts to have a terrific bed. We'd purchase the serenity gel bed-in-a-box mattress again in a heartbeat.

I love that your mattresses are made in the USA and that there is no odor whatsoever. Plus, it's great fun to watch the mattress "fluff up" when you open it! It was nice to have it delivered right to my door. This Bed was shipped on time, it arrived when it was scheduled to. So easy to build frame/support,(read instructions) this is by the best bed I have had in 50 years. I would recommend this bed to everyone, you can't beat the price, plus free shipping, I had no off gas that people talk about, and I slept on it the first night, it raised to 13 inches in an hour. I have a bad back and have never slept more than 4 or 5 hours now 6 to 7 with no issues. As for adult fun, there is no problem and bed works well for that. I got a split-king Serenity Gel with CoolRest topper and two Serenity Gel side-sleeper pillows. The mattress and pillow are insanely comfortable and don't heat up like my old mattress and pillow did. The wife and I are often on different sleep schedules and like that we can come and go without waking each other up. Also, I am a hot sleeper and need to stay cool in order to have a restful night. I don't wake up sweating anymore, and the mattress never seems to trap excessive heat. I still find myself shifting around my pillow when I first lay down, I love the feel of a cold pillow. But it never gets overly hot. Also, I find that "adult time" is perfectly fine on a foam mattress. You lose some bounce/rhythm, but it is a lot easier on your joints and you can hold certain positions longer that would otherwise hurt. There was some off-gassing during the first 24 hours. It was really strong for about an hour, but it had mostly gone away a couple of hours after opening it and it didn't effect my sleep the first night. Purchasing a mattress online was a big leap of faith, but I love this thing! Comfort I sleep like a rock. I used to toss and turn all night and wake up with a sore back (herniated lumbar). My back is feeling better and I don't toss and turn anymore. Support I feel completely supported without it being too hard. I'm a side sleeper and I really like it. Firmness Not sure exactly how to grade this. It is on the softer side of a medium firmness, in my opinion. I am a side sleeper and find that the top is soft enough to not have pressure points in my hips or shoulder, but it is still supportive. It doesn't cut off circulation to the arm I'm sleeping on, like my spring mattress did. I think I would have liked it to be just a little bit softer, but it's as near perfect for me as any mattress I've ever tried. Durability Hard to say, I haven't had it long enough, but they have a good warranty that exceeds what I expect a mattress life to be.

This really b helped my husband and me. He's a light sleeper and I have to get up several times a night to feed our baby and use the restroom. I definitely recommend to couples! My body was really supported threw out my pregnancy and made my life easier when it was time to get out of bed at all hours of day or night!
