I bought the Angel Care Bebe Sounds monitor when my son was 2 months old. He had terrible reflux and was miserable. We had to use a wedge to prop him up in his crib in an effort to make him more comfortable. Eventually we made the decision, after consulting his doctor, to let him sleep on his stomach in an effort to reduce his reflux symptoms. I was worried about the increased risk of SIDS so the idea of an alarm going off in seconds if he were to stop breathing was a comforting one. I am still using the monitor now and my son is nearly one year of age.
The installation was very simple. The motion dectector pad goes under the mattress. One tip I found helpful was to put a small piece of plywood under the motion dectector so that it is completely stable under the mattress. Once it is in place, just adjust the sensitivity level as indicated in the instructions.
The monitor comes with two battery operated, rechargable receivers. The sound is very clear and the range on this monitor is excellent. I can go outside and work in my yard while my son is napping and still get a clear signal and can hear his room easily.
