When we found out we were pregnant I was excited but scared. You hear all this stuff about SIDS and you worry that something will happen to your child. I saw an advertisement in a magazine for this monitor and went to check it out. After reading the box we added it to our registry. I always thought I would stay up all night watching my child breath but with this monitor on I was able to go to sleep with some sense of peace. When there is no movement for a set amount of time then the monitor will go off. It is not a loud beep but enough to wake you up. You can change the sensitivity of the sensor pad if needed. With our first child it did go off some but mostly because he would roll too far down the crib. We have not had that problem with our new baby. One negative is if you forget to turn the monitor/alarm off and you pick your baby up out of the crib it will go off. I like this monitor because you can also use it without the sensor pad. We did this once our son was a little older. We did have to buy a board to put underneath the mattress as you need a hard flat surface for the sensor pad. This monitor set also comes with 2 receiver's so you can have them in different places in the house. You can also plug them in or use batteries!
