My sister had this kind of monitor for her firstborn and when I heard about these, I knew I needed one, too!  I do not tend to worry an extreme amount, but the risk of SIDS does bother me. Therefore, to protect my peace of mind and keep me from jumping from bed in the middle of the night to check on my Baby Girl's breathing, I invested in one of these and am so glad I did.  It gave me the security I needed.

I will admit we had to quit using the motion sensor after about three months.  Around that time my daughter began to be quite a little squirmer and would often wriggle herself into the corners or sides of her crib and away from the monitor.  Thus, the motion sensor would sound about five or six times a night.  After about three nights of that, we turned that feature off.  We did briefly attempt to make the pad slightly less sensitive to see if it might work better, but realized that was essentially useless after I was in the middle of a night feeding and realized I had forgotten to turn the monitor off, which means no baby had been in the crib for a half hour and yet no alarm sounded, so only the most sensitive setting will actually work.

However, I do know that not all babies are as wiggly as our little one, so if your baby stays in one place, she'll be great. 

Although we had this problem, the sound monitor by itself works great and we love it. 

I would not trade the three months of peaceful motion monitoring for a lower price, that's for sure.

That sounds nice if someone is worried about their baby breathing. My nephew tosses all around his crib since day one so I guess that was always our indication that he was ok!
