I loved the fact that I could open the door and look for the flashing green light to indicate breathing rather than standing over my baby with a mirror like some paranoid new parents. My Daughter did set it off a few times. Each time, she was breathing when I got there. Probably a false alarm, but I felt very secure that if it wasn't, I would be there.
The major drawback is that there is only one pad and it is small. Once the baby can roll over, it is likely that they will roll off the pad and set it off. Since I had relied on it for both sound and motion monitoring, I had to buy a new sound monitor only once I put it away.
I had to stop using it at about 5 months old. I wasn't ready to part with the security of it though so I bought a Baby Sense V monitor. It has two pads so it covers much more area. It wasn't until my daughter reached about 8.5 months old that she moved to much at night to use that one. The Baby Sense monitor does not transmit sound.
In hind sight, I would have purchased and used the Baby Sense monitor right from the start to avoid paying for both systems.
Both systems provide terrific piece of mind. The Baby Sense just provides it longer. :)
