I go to a place that has a great reputation and they have a terrific team approach. If you don't like your hair cut you have 10 days to go back and get it redone. I would trust any one of the stylists there to listen to me and be capable enough to do what I asked. If i was doing something new, I would bring in a picture and talk to the woman I usually go to. I would not just walk into any place and trust my hair! But i feel very safe where I go.

I had the same hairdresser for years and she was a great lady, but she gave me the SAME haircut everytime no matter what I said. I finally switched when she went on maternity leave, i felt very guilty! But now i am much happier!
