If I uploaded a photo of myself, could you help me choose a hairstyle?

I don't know if I'm allowed to ask or even do this-someone please let me know either way before I post a photo.

I am at my wits end with my hair. It is longer than shoulder length, with my longest layer laying a little past the back of my bra band. I had colored it in the past (auburn) but now my length is blonde and my roots are darker (don't ask why blonde length if I previously colored it auburn years ago-weird). I feel I do need bangs because of my face shape and height of my forehead (wish I didn't need bangs, but I do). I have a 'long' face, if that makes sense. If I can post a photo, it would help you to help me decide on what hairstyle would look good on me. I want to get it cut soon but just want someone's opinion-strangers are usually more honest than friends or family, but that's just my opinion.

Thanks, and please let me know if I can post a photo to ask for help in this situation. If I can, I'll post one in my profile photos.

Thank you! I have posted a photo under my profile page-not the best photo, but you get the idea! I'm open to all/any suggestions for types of hairstyles-long, medium or short. My hair is naturally wavy and medium texture. Thanks again!

From the picture you uploaded it appears that you have a long face. This is the same shape face as Sarah Jessica Parker. She also has some natural wave to her hair. You can see two hairstyles on her at this link:

http://www.thehairstyler.com/celebrity-hairstyles/sarah-jessica-parker

It will give you an idea of a cute hairstyle for you. [the bottom one]

The site also has a feature that you can use to see how different styles will look on you. It cost about $14-15 but you can upload your own picture and then experiment with different styles, colors, etc.

Meri,

Do you REALLY think I could go without bangs though? Her hairstyle (the bottom one) is cute. Thanks!

She has bangs- they are long and swept to the side. The effect is the same thing as full bangs [covers up part of the forehead to make your face appear shorter]...

I found a better link that gives pictures of many styles that are good for oblong face shapes.  Scroll down to read and see everything!

Thank you! What do you think about Jennifer Anniston's "Rachel" haircut? Would that look good on me do you think?

Because I don't know you I can only go on the one picture that you provided. I think it would look very nice on you. You mentioned that you were hard of hearing. Do you wear hearing aids? If so, it looks like the style would be cute with the hair tucked behind your ear as well.

My hair stylist is great to tell me if she thinks a style will look good on me or not. If you can find a good stylist she would be invaluable in helping you in your quest for the perfect style.  Good luck. Please post a picture after you get your hair done!

Thanks for your reply-again! lol. I am hard of hearing but I do not at the current time wear a hearing aid. I may try to find some good "Rachel" styles to print out for the hair stylist to give her an idea of what I might be looking for.

If any other style comes to mind, feel free to throw them my way! It will be a couple weeks before I get to have my hair cut-I like to know for sure what I want done before I get there!

Something to consider: I lived in Miami during my High School/College years. I have naturally wavy hair but wanted long, straight hair. I would wind it up around one large orange juice can on the to of my head and sleep that way. In the morning I would carefully let it down. It looked sleek and perfect- until I walked outside. Once the humidity hit the waves were back...  :)

I just looked at your picture and think, with your skin tone and eyes, you would look better with a medium blond shade of hair. Having said that, you have a slightly long face and you have a wider forehead than jaw. Jennifer Anniston pulled off her style because she has a square face.

What I think would look good on you is longer bangs, not a wall of straight, blunt ones. I like the idea of pushing them to the side but still having them cover part of the forehead.

I was just as site that talked about face shape and styles and they showed Friends' Lisa Kudrow as the model for a long face and said: "The solution for a long face is to make it look shorter. This can be achieved by wispy, see-through bangs and chin length cuts. Longer, shapeless styles and straight bobs serve only to further elongate. The fullest, thickest part of the hair should rest behind the ears and be soft and low on the crown. If your chin is pointy, make sure your hair doesn't curve in towards it, but sweeps up and away instead."

This photo of her hair would look great on you and I even like the color for you. http://bit.ly/GVDwH

Obviously I just saw one picture but I think you could rock the swept over bands style and longer hair. Just don't cut it into a bob or anything too short which will make your (and anyone else's) face look longer.
