We recently took an at-the-last minute weekend trip to Biloxi, MS and we opted for the Beau Rivage. It's a beautiful hotel/casino. Our rooms were less than we expected though. Rating the room itself out 5 stars....I'd say they were a 3. Factor in the casino, restaurants, etc. and my rating changes to a 4.
HOTEL - (Rooms weren't as expected)
GUEST ROOMS - We had a room facing the ocean. At $229 a night, the room looked NOTHING like the pictures on their website. Large bathroom with separate soaking tub (NO Jacuzzi) and glassed in shower, NO luxury linens, NO robes, NO coffee maker, NO fridge, NO snack shelf. Frankly the comforters, which I roll down to the end of the bed, looked like it came from grandma's bedroom. These rooms are more along the lines of a Best Western or something. They should be in the $89 dollar range.
GUEST SUITES - Wonder what they looked like...
RESTAURANTS - (Typical crowds, get there early, don't be starving)
FINE DINING - 3 fine dining restaurants. We chose BR Prime but make reservations early or you'll be eating at 10pm like we did. By the time we ate, the twice baked potatoes were...old. Nice ambiance but very pricey.
CASUAL DINING - 4 casual dining restaurants. We chose the Buffet ($25) but they have EVERYTHING that you could possibly imagine. I had my favorite - crab legs!!!
QUICK BITES- 4 "quick bite" locations. We never made it to any except the Roast Bean for my Carmel Macciato (spelling) coffee.
BARS & LOUNGES- I recommend Coast Night Club. Get early for a table. They have great live bands! Although we did see a cute guy giving a table dance at Eight75 when we were leaving. LOL!! He was obviously a guest. He had fun, so did the ladies at his table!
CASINO - (Really exciting casino action)
PLAYERS CLUB
SLOTS - Lots of exciting slots. My hangout!!
POKER ROOM
POKER TOURNAMENTS
GULF COAST POKER CHAMPIONSHIP
TABLE GAMES
HIGH LIMIT LOUNGE
ENTERTAINMENT - (Make reservations early, we didn't and everything was sold out)
HEADLINERS - I recommend booking a show very far in advance. There was nothing for us to see on short notice. Everything was SOLD OUT!
BEAU RIVAGE THEATRE
COAST NIGHTCLUB - Very "happening" hot spot. I recommend getting there early or you'll be waiting in a super long line to get in! Great live bands!!
AMENITIES- (Lots of hotel amenities. There's one purse/jewelry shop where everything is $5/$10)
SPA - Wanted to go but so little time!!
SALON
FALLEN OAK GOLF
SHOPPING - Several wonderful shops!!
POOL - Gorgeous pool with an ocean view
ARCADE - Great for kids!
Biloxi is on its way to recovering from Katrina. Most of the focus from my town was on New Orleans. Not much was said about Mississippi and the horrific losses they too endured. There are many, many vacant slabs where stores, restaurants, hotels and homes once were. There has been a lot of rebuilding and it's on its way to being beautiful again. They have some gorgeous beach-front homes.
Biloxi's beaches offer lots of exciting water activities! We found $110/hr double jetski's and we had a blast! Call around because others were $130. The beaches were almost deserted and we were shocked because we were there for Fri-Sun. I forgot my swimsuit!!! Darn it! Well the ocean water is not clear in that area so I don't swim in that kind of water anyway.
We had a great time and definitely will be going back to Biloxi! We'll stay somewhere more economical though (and drive to the casinos).
