When we were ready for our first family dog, we mainly considered the breeds we grew up with as kids; Boxers, German Shepards, Chihuahuas, Shelties. We have a young boy at home, so it was important that the breed be good with small children. I started researching, reading and asking around. I was...

We had our Beagle for 9 years and she was overall, a good dog. She housetrained easily but we always had to worry about her running away whenever she got out. Also, she wasn't that smart and was basically a dog school dropout!

She was very loving and great with the kids, which is more than I could ever...

We own/breed/hunt and show beagles.  They are a great addition to the family/hunter.  From chasing small rabbits all the way to deer, a beagle will get the job done.

We rasie our beagles with our family.  We hanlde the pups from a few minutes old, all the way until they are in the woods, or in another home.

Great hunter, great family pet.  What can go wrong?

The only thing better than a beagle is two!  These dogs are friendly, patient, fun loving, and affectionate.  They are also very very smart.  Don't believe people who say they can't be trained.  Beagles are just so smart that they won't waste there time doing a trick unless they know there's something in it for them.  put a few treats in your pocket though and they will sit, lie down, stay, come, and wave all day long.  The energy level in these dogs is not for the faint at heart.  Be ready for endless walks and hours of wrestling.

We have had or beagle for just over 4 months now.  We did a lot of reading and research before we got him.  They are extremely loving and sweet dogs but are very difficult.  The rule with their nose and once they latch on to a scent they will do anything to get to it.  They are hunting dogs and that's what they do - they smell something and chase it and expect you to run after it!  Our dogs name is Gordon and he is great wit the kids. We love him very much and only hope he will get a little better as he gets older.

I have a blue tick beagle who is 4 years old and he is my baby. He is so loving and wants to be next to me at all times. He is just like my kid. He needs me and depends on me for love and attention. I love him so much and think beagles are the greatest dogs to have a pets. Their only downfall is they are really stubborn and LOVE their food. He will grab food from anyone if he thinks he has a chance to get it. But you cant stay mad at them because they are so darn cute!

We got our beagle from the Humane Society a little bit less than a year ago.  Now, I realize that many of the characteristics of our Louie will be very different from other beagles, but we really did luck out.  We fully prepared that visiting a dog once or twice at the shelter would not give us a full picture of how the dog would act once we got him/her home, but we went with the recue option, anyway.

Louie is a very loving, sweet dog.  He loves our three small children (ages 5, 3.5, and 14 months) and has never done anything to harm them.  He loves to play outside, and does like to follow his...

I've had my Dolly for 2 years now. She housetrained very easily. She does however love to get into the kitchen trash, so I have a baby gate up, so she can't get into the kitchen anymore. I've had a lot of problems with her ears, she gets nasty yeast infections in them, and it has cost me a lot of money to get it cleared up. (Normal with a floppy earred dog). she has a really annoying bark, but I'm lucky cause she doesn't use it unless absolutely necessary. She's great with my children, never has attempted to bite any of them. She does like to chew on blankets, not to tear them up, but to just salivate... read full review »

I am owned by three sassy, sweet, quirky and loveable beagles.  I have a tri-color beagle (male), a tan and white beagle (female) and a red and white beagle (female).  I have had beagles in my life for nine years now and I have loved every minute with this wonderful breed.

Before becming a mother to my sweet son, I was a member of Triangle Beagle Rescue.  I helped place over five hundred beagles while a member.  I also fostered over fifty beagles in my home - one at a time.

Beagles are smart, stubborn, loveable, food motivated and wonderful with children.  One of my beagles is a certified...

I have had two beagles and can not imagine a better dog.  They are sweet as can be and love to entertain.  Because they are scent hounds, sometimes their noses lead them into trouble, but they always mean well.  They love to bark and howl, but if you can deal with that, it is a lot of fun to listen to.  They are gentle with children and other dogs, but do not like cats.  They do kill the occasional rabbit or bird, but lots of dogs do that.  They truly are wonderful dogs with a lot of spirit.  They love to take long naps and love their humans.

I would completely recommend beagles to anyone...
