Bath and Body Works Wet Your Whistle Lip Balm —

Since I'm sensitive to lip balms containing potential irritants like menthol, peppermint, camphor, or eucalyptus, I fell in love when I stumbled upon Wet Your Whistle Lip Balm, one of the products in the True Blue Spa line of cosmetics.

Wet Your Whistle is available at Bath & Body Works stores and I almost passed it by while looking for something else.  At the cash register, I saw a display of the product and decided to read through the ingredients list while I was waiting in line.

The balm is primarily made with shea butter for moisturizing, aloe for its hydration and soothing properties, and beeswax which acts as a moisture seal.  The formula also contains vitamin E and Provitamin B5, safflower, almond, and coconut oils.

I purchased a couple of tubes and tried it out right away.  The balm glides on easily and it has nice coverage.  You can definitely feel the creamy-waxy consistency when you apply it.  I find that I can use it once a day and that it doesn't dry out my lips like some of the medicated balms do.  I know I sound like an advertisement, but it really does seem that as the balm slowly fades, there is a residual moisture shield that keeps your lips feeling soft and quenched.  What I really like is that once the balm has worn off I don't feel the need to immediately reapply.  I haven't felt the need to overuse the balm which has happened to me with medicated products in the past.

Since this product is heavier in feel than some other formulas, I generally use a very light touch if I am going to use it as a base before applying a coat of lipstick.  Most of the time, however, I just use the product alone.

I've read that many dermatologists believe you shouldn't use lip balm under any circumstance.  I guess I'm being a bit contrary to those considered opinions, but I have no complaints with this lip balm at all.  In fact, I highly recommend it.
