I can't fault the nutritional benefits of switching to Barilla Plus. This pasta has more fiber, more protein, and addeded Omega 3. The texture of the pasta al dente is superior, and the color is a nice warm yellow. However the manner in which the fiber and protein is raised is by using a flour made with beans, and you can taste the beans. It's a little jarring when you're not expecting that flavor in there. Recipes that incorporate beans, like e faglioli, work very well with this pasta. Recipes where you're not expecting beans, not so much. The elderly resident of the household gave this a solid thumbs down, but I still like it as long as I remember to use recipes that favor its flavor profile. But honestly I like Barilla's whole grain pasta better overall.

Healthy Pasta and it tastes good too!

This pasta is really good!    Not only is it healthy, it is very fulfilling and you will eat less and feel full.  I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a healthy alternative to regular pasta.  Very tasty too!  Try this with garlic for an added touch and don't be afraid to use cheese since this is a healthier pasta.

A healthy and tasty alternative to plain ole white pasta.

Barilla Plus Omega 3's is the only pasta choice for me. For a healthier alternative to plain old white pasta, this is a tastier choice. This is perfect for vegetarians or anyone trying to consume less meats,  it has higher protein content requiring less consumption of meats if trying to reduce your meat intake. This a great choice for anyone trying to reduce their carb intake without depriving themselves of pasta, it's high fiber content reduces the intake of carbs. Whenever making any pasta dishes, this is my ole stand by. It's great for soups, mac n cheese, obviously; italian dishes and cold pasta dishes. You get an awesome tasting pasta with all the healthy benefits.

Great pasta for vegetarians

My husband recently wanted to cut out white flour pastas from his diet.  I went to the store and purchased some whole wheat pasta.  While the kids ate it...I hated it!  It was mealy and unappetizing. Next time I shopped I saw the Barilla Omega 3 pasta line.  I read the box and was so intrigued, I brought a box home to try. My husband whipped up his wonderful spaghetti and it was a hit.  The kids loved it.  Even my little one who is pretty picky gobbled it up.  It tasted and felt like white pasta, but with none of the negative side effects.  It seemed to fill us up faster, which led to having more meals for the one pound puchased.  Even if this pasta costs a little more, it ends up being more cost effective just because of the number of servings it provides. And the best part was that it had added protein, so we could have a vegetarian meal while not missing out on protein! The next time in the grocery store, the choice was easy.  I went directly to the Barilla Omega 3 pasta and purchased one of each type of pasta!

A Healthy Choice for pasta but not the tastiest

2

I received a coupon for a free box of the Barilla Plus Omega 3 pasta and decided to try the spaghetti. I love whole grain pastas because they are heartier than plain semolina pastas and much healthier, even though they do take longer to cook, which was true of this Barilla Plus product as well. When tasting a plain noodle there was a definite aftertaste that I didn't enjoy. I often eat pasta with just a little butter and salt but the flavor of the pasta wasn't the tastiest to allow me to eat it in this manner, when I used a classic tomato sauce and cheese with the spaghetti the aftertaste wasn't detectable. The texture was similar to that of other whole grain pastas. This product does come in different varieties such as macaroni and rotini and if you are serving this with a good sauce the health benefits are great. It might be okay in a pasta salad or soup if you have other flavors to cover of the taste of the noodle itself.

A must pasta for diabetics!

This is an excellent pasta! As a diabetic, it is hard to find a pasta that I can eat without super high blood sugar levels. This pasta does not cause that problem. In addition, it tastes great in all sorts of recipes. I love the protein increase, as I was informed I needed to increase that area as well.  It cooks quickly, isn't sticky or gummy, and it tastes great.  You would not know how good this is for you. Try it!

awesome never going back to regular pasta again

Never going back to regular pasta again.  We have tried whole grain pasta in the past and although we loved it the kids wouldn't touch it (and they eat nothing but whole wheat bread).  Tried it when we got the coupons in the mail for the sampling and love it, the boys didnt even notice the difference.  Healthy and YUMMY! Goes perfect with my turkey meatballs.

Even the kids love the Barilla omega 3 pasta!

We love pasta at our house and have tried whole wheat pasta in the past that we did not like at all.  I prepared this in our usual pasta dish and no one even noticed the difference.  I love being able to eat pasta while adding more nutritional value!

I do not typically like whole grain pasta but this was fabulous!

I recently received a free sample of this product and had very low expectations of it, as I have been disappointed in the past by whole grain pasta. I find that it takes too long to cook, and it has a taste that I find to be not like traditional, white pasta. But I was willing to try it -- hey, it was free, right? I was very surprised when I cooked up this pasta and no one in my household even seemed to notice the difference. I have to say that I would not have known that it was whole grain -- it was that tasty! In addition, this pasta did not have that "grainy after-taste" or texture that I have experienced with other whole grain pasta. The best part of this product is that it is healthy for my family and for the money, it doesn't cost that much more -- especially on sale and with a coupon. I look forward to trying the other types within this variety, and offering this healthy alternative to my family at a reasonable price.

Barilla plus pasta is a good way to get some Omega 3's.

Barilla plus pasta is a good way to get some Omega 3's. I received a coupon for a free box of Barilla plus.  The smell when I was rinsing the noodles was a little gross.  I've noticed that scent before with "enriched" pastas.  It's kind of like dirty sea water.  But once the noodles were reheated the scent wasn't there anymore and there wasn't any of that bad scent in the flavor.  It was alright for pasta.  Like most pastas it tastes as good as the things you mix it with (pasta sauce, veggies, etc. ) I wonder how much of the pasta is made with white flour.   It's nice to get more Omega 3 fats and protein.  Especially since most foods that are rich in Omega 3's such as seafood are expensive and take a lot more prep time.  Pasta is a cheap alternative to get those same healthy fats.  Mix it with some veggies and some chicken and you've got most of your food bases covered.  The pasta only takes around 7 minutes to make (once you have the water boiling.)
