Bare Escentuals Ruby Collection Review

Hi, I'm H1s-Bel0ved and I'm addicted to Bare Escentuals.

Seriously, I love their stuff. I didn't really start wearing much makeup until the last few months and therefore I don't have much more than the basics of foundation, mascara and one eye shadow quad. So when I was craving something different that was more suited for fall and winter the Ruby Collection caught my eye. For one thing, it comes with 2 brushes (technically 3 because one is double ended), make up brushes can be very expensive so to have a kit come with full size ones was a huge plus for me.

The brushes are wonderful, the cheek brush is very soft and perfect for blush, the eye brush is very handy since it's double-ended. The eye shadow side is firm enough to give you a good contour, I wish the eyeliner one was a little shorter but it does it's job quite admirably. The all over face color is perfect, just the right amount of shimmer and gives your face a lovely glow (especially if you use it as a blush). The 'golden ruby' eye shadow color is a beautiful highlight color and I think I'll be using it quite often. The 'vintage ruby' is just a bit too brown for me, mostly just because I find browns boring. The 'wild ruby' shadow liner is great, if you apply it dry it's a very pretty eggplant color that's perfect for bringing out green or blue eyes, very in this fall as well. If you apply it wet then it has much more pop, it comes out quite a bit darker, which would be great for an evening out but I find it a bit too much for work.

The buxom lips color is perfect! It's a great red without being harsh, it'll dress up your face perfectly if you want a little pop of color. It also is a plumping gloss, so it has that little tingle feeling that I enjoy. Another plus is that it doesn't bleed as easily as most of the other colored glosses I've tried. It doesn't give you the definition of lipstick, but I think if you had a base of a good lip liner it would stay very well (without liner I didn't need to reapply until lunch time). Also, it's full size, always a plus.

Overall, even if you don't like every single item in the collection, odds are you'll enjoy at least half and they're completely worth the price. I found it to be a wonderful way to make your makeup money stretch while still getting great products. If you want to spice up your colors a little bit for the fall, this is the collection to get!
