Bare Escentuals Powder Brow Color —

The Verdict:  Although this is not the easiest brow powder to use, I'm sticking with it as the price was right as was the color.

Just the Facts:  This past year I've noticed that my eyebrows are looking a little sparse and it's not from tweezing but because they're growing in white!  Yikes!  I'm getting to be a geezer.  So this year's cosmetics issue has been trying out many different brow products to find just the right one.

To complicate the issue, I have red hair and it's really hard to find products in drugstores that match.  Everything is either for blonde or brunette which just don't look quite right.  The blonde doesn't do anything and the brunette is too dark.

In frustration I went to Sephora to see everything they might have that would work for me and finally settled on Bare Escentuals' Brow Color Powder in the Auburn shade which is working out pretty well for me, although it's not perfect.

BE Brow Color is powder made from minerals.  It comes in six different colors so it should be easy to find the right color to create the most natural look.  It comes in a tiny clear pot with a black lid that holds only 0.01 ounces.  That sounds like a tiny amount but it's actually a ton of product and I doubt I'll ever use up the whole container even if I use it every day for the rest of my life.

The powder is applied using an angled brow brush (not included).  I just dip the very tip of the brush into the powder, then swirl the brush around in the lid of the container to remove excess, then fill in the natural shape of my brow.  My intent is just to darken up the white hairs and even out the color and an sparse places.  It does not contain any wax or lacquer that holds the brows in place; it's just powder that fills in color.  You'd need a separate product for control.

Although I like that the auburn shade perfectly matches my hair color, I wish that applying this brow color was a bit easier.  I like brow color that comes with a wand like a mascara as I know it will completely cover white hairs and sparse spots and also control the shape of my brows.  With BE Brow Color application takes longer and is a bit more difficult to control where I'm putting the color.  Sometimes I end up having to go over the same spot a few times and then I end up looking like Joan Crawford when I've applied too much.  It's easy enough to wipe off some of the excess, but it is a bit more tricky to apply than other products.

Closing Argument: 4 stars for BE Brow Color because it does look very natural due to having lots of different shades.  Deducted a star for being tricky to apply and for not coming with an applicator brush.
