Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips Review

Quick View: I recently made a large purchase at Sephora.com (again) and got a free full sized tube of Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips with my purchase. The shade I was sent was Amber which is a sheer peach shade. This lip plumper doesn't plump and has very little color but it feels good on my lips and lasts quite a while. I wouldn't buy it for $18.00. For free, it's OK.

About Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips

This lip plumper comes in six shades and clear. The packaging is a bit over the top as it is boxed and encased in a big plastic tube that makes it look like there is a ton of gloss in there but there is just .15 ounce. The shade I got looked much darker in the tube than on my lips so heed that warning when picking shades. The gloss goes on with a slanted sponge tipped applicator. It smells like toffee or chocolate or something good but doesn't taste like anything. Bummer. When I put the gloss on, I saw shimmer  and shine and not much else. I saw no real color. My lips are naturally very pink so maybe the peach shade was too sheer to give me any color.

Although most plumpers burn and sting, this one does the opposite. It cools and tingles and feels great. I like the cooling "Vicks" feeling. It doesn't hurt at all. But it also doesn't plump at all. Although the gloss is thin, it is sticky. That mean it lasts a bit longer on the lips than non sticky gloss but you have to deal with your lips sticking together. It's a trade off. My lips FELT plumper because of the cooling, tingling effect but they weren't. Still, the shine and the slight shimmer looked nice. It works well over matte lipsticks or on bare lips for a touch of shine and shimmer.

My Viewpoint

This lip plumper works as well as most. It really doesn't. But it has a nice scent, is very shiny, has a cooling feeling, and is very sheer and subtle. It lasts for a an hour and a half or so which is good for thin gloss. However, the cost is $18.00 for a small amount of product and all it really does is add shine and shimmer to the lips. It's very average, thus 3 stars. I would only buy it if I were a huge BE fan, which I am not. I wouldn't be buying any of this gloss but will use what I have over deeper lip color.
