Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Glimmer —

I've never been one to really put on a lot of makeup but sometimes you do want to draw attention to your eyes.  Mascara doesn't always do the trick, or you want something that will complement your clothing.  My case was a little different.  I just wanted a different look.  I wanted an eyeshadow color that was neutral, would go with lots of outfits, and also be noticed.  I decided on two shades of Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Glimmer to perk up my eyes.

Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Glimmer

Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Glimmer comes in small plastic pots with black lids with the "BE" logo on top.  The top screws on and off to reveal a circle with a small tab that should be pulled off to open up the sifter holes to allow you to access the eyeshadow.

Each "pot" of Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Glimmer contains .02 ounces of eyeshadow.  This doesn't sound like a lot, but a pot usually lasts me anywhere from one to two years.

The "glimmer" line consists of a Bare Minerals regular eyeshadow complimented with a "shimmer" to give an alternative look in eyeshadow.  Some of the shades are dramatic and bright.  Others are more neutral and an everyday shade/color.

BareMinerals is made with all natural minerals and milled to a very fine powder.  The eyeshadows can be applied either dry or wet for a darker and more dramatic look.  Wetting some shades will give you a foiled look.

My Thoughts On Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Glimmer

I have to say that I'm not impressed with most of the shades in this line of eyeshadows, but most will appeal to the younger crowd.  I chose the following shades for everyday wear and love the look that I have obtained with them.

My Shades:

Summer
Nude Beach
Envy

I would have to say that I wear the "Summer" shade most often out of the three.  It is a brown shade and will go with anything.  That is why I bought it!  The "Nude Beach" shade has a mixture of pink/purple/browns to it and comes off as a light shade.  I find it perfect for summertime.

Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Glimmer is easy to use.  I use an eyeshadow brush and just a couple of swipes gives a complete application.  I like the fact that applying a second or third coat gives a deeper shade/look.  You don't have to rely on another shade to blend if you want to blend two colors.  You can also apply the shadow wet for an even darker shade.

Cost

The cost is the biggest drawback to Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Glimmer and the entire Bare Escentuals line.  It is pricey.  One pot of this will set you back $13.00.  However, when it lasts for a year (or longer), it is a good deal.

There are lots of other mineral makeup brands on the market and some compare to the quality of BE, while others do not.  You will just have to figure that out on your own by trial and error!  I have used other brands too and have found some that I adore just as well as this one, but sometimes I can't resist a shade of Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Glimmer  or other BE product when shopping at Ulta.

Recommendation

I do recommend Bare Escentuals BareMinerals Glimmer.  It's a fun product even though it is costly, but it does last for a long time and justifies the price.  If you have an Ulta store in your area, you can catch it on sale often!  Recommend?  Yes!

You may want to shop around. If you have an Ulta store they often have the starter kits on sale, and they put out coupons :)

I've wondered how this would work for me. Excellent review, you covered a lot of things I had questions on. Thanks!

If it lasts you 1-2 years, I could probably stretch it out to 4! Haha, I seriously only use eye shadoe products on holidays and special ocassions (or when I'm feeling the urge). Sounds great! Thanks for the review. I've been needing something new.

I have a set called Nude Beach or something similar that is six of these shadows. It's really strange stuff. It looks like one color in the pot but it's different on my lids. I like it though for now and then and it sure does last forever!

My babysitter swore by BE and the good thing was it always gave me something I could buy her for a bonus or for gift for holidays.

They are very versatile too in mixing shades together. Check out the Jane line too--cheap but good!
