In one of my recent online orders, I received a free sample of Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Mascara.  It's a nice sized mascara - about half the size of a regular mascara.  I have not liked any of the Bare Mineral products that I have tried, but this mascara, although only 3 stars, is the best product of theirs that I have tried.

The Bare Minerals Loose Powder Foundation was horrible, as was the Mineral Veil, but luckily this Flawless Definition Mascara is much better, although not great.  The brush is very small.  The bristles are very fine and taper off in size from the inside of the brush to the end.  The small brush does seem to grab every one of your lashes, which I like, but I can't stand the way it leaves my lashes looking.  I can't tell if the brush or the mascara formula is the culprit, but it leaves my lashes looking brittle and like spider legs.  I haven't been getting any clumps with this mascara, which is definitely a plus.  It does make my lashes longer, but it doesn't provide as much volume as I like.  This mascara canclaim a small feat, it's paraben-free, which is hard to find in the mascara world.  The packaging also states that this mascara contains "healthy antioxidants and vitamin E".

Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Mascara isn't horrible, but I definitely wouldn't buy it.  I gave this product 3 stars because although it does add length and doesn't clump, I really dislike the spidery look this mascara gives my lashes.

NOTE: the reviewer indicated that they received a sample of Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Mascara

Well, my husband is made because all the empty product packages are sitting on my dining room table. As soon as I review something, I will throw the package away, but sometimes the table is so full, we can't eat there!

I save packaging too, my husband thinks I'm crazy yet he'll ask me if I have the package to his new.......fill in the blank here.......I have a 4 drawer filing cabinet for reciepts, packages (that will fit) and instruction booklets to things like cameras, computers, tools etc. Just makes it easier to find when needed. I guess you could say I'm a bit anal like that as well but hey, I also think it's a great way to stay organized, don't you?

I'm addicted too, I've used so many that I don't like, I feel like I should be writing about every one of them but, I'll stick with my newest ventures lol

If it is something that I have used a lot, therefore, know it very well, I guess I would. 99% of the time, I write a review of something that I just used so that it is fresh in my mind and then I can also provide more details that I might have otherwise forgotten. I actually store product packaging on my dining room table for accurate product information for writing a review. I'm anal though :) Something like a movie could be reviewed anytime because we all remember what we think of movies :)

The ball of that new L'Oreal mascara looks so interesting! I look forward to reading your review! Thanks for telling me about the Big Tease, I'll have to look into that - I'm addicted to trying new mascaras!

almost forgo this question for you.
Do you ever write reviews of items you've used in the past ( liked or not ) that you no longer use but would like people to know all about it? Just curious.

I purchase the new L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion mascara, haven't gotten a chance to use it yet but will soon and likely review it at some point. I did like Bare Escentuals Big Tease mascara, gave great lashes except the formula dried out way to fast that I found myself replacing it in less than a months time.

You got spikey and I got spidery. Neither sound very good do they :)

ApriBambino wrote on Nov 1, 2009 at 11:40AM

I've tried this before and didn't like it either. It gave me spikey, kind of hard-feeling lashes. Not one of my faves.

Thank you! Even if you do like their make-up, you probably won't like the mascara :)

dmlichnerowicz wrote on Oct 31, 2009 at 8:27PM

I do like bare escentuals, but the whole spider look is not my style. :( Great review!

AnnaBanana wrote on Oct 31, 2009 at 5:51PM

Still, the spidery look might not be bad for Halloween, huh? HAHA! Yah, okay -- I know -- but this was a good review!

It's hard to find a good mascara.
