Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Complexion Make-up —

My favorite mineral foundation is very expensive, so when I saw that Ulta.com had a Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals kit for only $15.00, I thought I should see what all the fuss was about.  The kit includes two loose powder foundation colors, Mineral Veil and a mini kabuki brush.  Luckily, Ulta.com has a great return policy because I disliked it so much, I sent it back to get a refund.

I have read so many positive things about Bare Escentuals, I was really looking forward to trying out my inexpensive Bare Minerals kit.  The opportunity to try out several of their products for only $15 sounded like a bargain!  The morning after I received my kit, I applied the loose powder foundation all over my face and was immediately displeased.  Not only does it not provide enough coverage, it left my skin with a shimmery sheen to it.  I had a blemish on my chin that I wanted to cover, and the Bare Minerals did a very poor job of doing that.  I usually have really nice skin, but I expect my mineral foundation to cover my blemishes, and this didn't do that at all.  I also felt like this product enhanced my pores.  I don't have large pores or anything, but I felt like my pores were more noticeable after applying this product.  The last straw was the shimmer on my face.  I even applied the Mineral Veil that was included in the kit, and my face was still shimmery.  The Mineral Veil didn't do anything!

I also didn't like using a loose powder foundation.  The powder can be messy and (to me) provides a uneven application.  I prefer a pressed powder foundation and will go back to using the other two products I have had success with.

If you are like me and prefer a pressed powder mineral foundation, I highly recommend you try the following:

The Scoop!

I disliked the Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals so much, I probably wouldn't try any of their other products.  I will go back to the two other products that have worked great for me in the past.  A make-up product should enhance your face, not draw out it's flaws, and this product didn't do anything to enhance my face.

You can find the MyChelle Del Sol at my favorite natural website N101.com (I wrote a review on it) or the MyChelle website which is MyChelleusa.com. Tell me what you think!

Thanks so much for the info. I'll check your review for the other 2 pressed powders. When can I find the MyChelle Del Sol?

I forgot to mention in the last comment I sent you that you should try either of the two pressed powder foundations that I mentioned in my review. They are BOTH great! Also, about the sunless tanner, I use MyChelle Del Sol (I reviewed it). It's made with all natural ingredients and gives you a totally natural color.

You are abosolutley correct in your assessment for me. I like you like a pressed powder and feel it has more coverage. I do use Elizabeth Ardens loose pressed powder but they always run out too fast at Macy's which is the only place in RI that sells it, and they changed their products too often so you get used to the product and then its so different. Tootles......

Hello MrsChristianWorld! You know what? Bare Escentuals is very popular with women and I seem to be in the minority of people who didn't like it. Everyone is different, so you might end up liking it. I myself prefer a pressed powder foundation, because it isn't messy and provides a more even coverage. The sheen this product gave my skin was horrible! I have never had that happen to me before! I wish you luck finding the perfect product! Thanks for stopping by to comment. Have a good day!

I'm glad I read your review. My husband bought stock in the company months ago and asked if I knew much about it and I said that I didn't. He sold the stock as quickly as he bought and I too saw it at ulta, but wasn't sure.

Bare Escentuals started out being sold on TV infomercials. It is now one of the biggest make-up companies and people swear by their products. If you click on my review and look at the top, it is highly rated out of over 300 reviewers. I don't get it!

I don't think I have ever seen Bare Escentuals. I either use Clinique or the lower price makeup like Cover Girl and Max Factor.
