My 15 year old daughter & I had been wanting to try Bare Minerals for awhile. We'd heard the buzz about how great a product it was & had watched the infomercial a few times. When a new shopping center recently opened near our house, we learned it housed a Bare Escentuals store. We decided to visit one afternoon, wearing no make up, so we could try this stuff for ourselves.
We had a blast during our "makeovers"! The Bare Escentuals employee who worked on us was great...funny, informative & patient. She showed us how to use the Bare Minerals products to create a fast, flawless look without appearing "made up". When we were finished, both of us liked the results.
I had already done my homework & comparison shopped on-line for the Bare Minerals kit. While there were slightly less expensive kits available on the web, they didn't include the full coverage Kabuki brush (a must have!) or the compact (great for toting Bare Minerals in your purse). If you haven't yet tried this product & are thinking about buying a kit, I suggest visiting a Bare Escentuals store, if you have one locally, to take advantage of the makeover and hands-on, step-by-step instructions. You'll get more product inside your kit -- a real value if you price the extra items individually. Our store even has a "frequent spender" program...you get your card stamped for every $10 you spend inside the store. When the card is completed ($120), you can redeem it at any Bare Escentuals location for a $10 discount off your next purchase.
It takes a bit of practice to find the right amount of coverage for your skin. Using too much can leave you with a cakey look. I've learned that good lighting in the room where you apply Bare Minerals is very important! Also, a couple of the inside liners of the caps to our product have come unglued, which is important since you use this area to gather the powder onto your brushes (swirl, tap, tap, tap!). We used double-sided tape to fix this.
Overall, my daughter & I love Bare Minerals! There's no "heavily masked" feeling after you apply it. The coverage is great & the application is simple once you get the steps mastered. I tend to have dry skin problems & have been prone to rashy break-outs after using certain products on my face. My daughter used to experience monthly acne eruptions prior to this, but no longer. Bare Minerals has solved these issues for us. I highly recommend Bare Minerals!
