Our household all agrees that Barbie and the Island Princess is one of the best of the Barbie movies. The music is fantastic and stays with us long after the viewing. My girls enjoy the fantasy of being on an island all by themselves with only animals for friends. They love that Barbie is the only one who can understand the animals! The story is good and full of enough adventure to keep them entertained for the whole movie. When the dolphins save the elephant, they cheer!

The only part that we don't like is that my girls don't quite get why the mother (villian) wants to hurt everyone and...

Such a great movie!
very picky about kids films

I had low expectations of this and all the Barbie movies. Boy was I wrong. They have fantastic storylines, fun characters, beautifuly done art and scenery and really nice music. I catch myself singing along when the kids are watching. The Island Princess is a favorite of both my 4 year old daughter and my 2 year old son. They love Ro and all the animals. I've been telling everyone with kids that they need to watch!

You will love this movie.  Everyone I know who has seen it, has wonderful things to say about it.  We have all of the Barbie movies and my daughter enjoys every one.  Before Barbie as the Island Princess, The Princess and the Pauperwas our all time favorite.  I really do like the Barbie movie's characters.  They aren't usually quite as scary like the Disney villains.  It's a nice change.  The songs are so catchy and the characters, even the villain of the movie, are all so likable.  The story is sweet and unique, keeping your attention right until the end.
