My "I Am" tags describe me as an open minded woman who is all about easy, has a sense of humor, likes to try different foods and will taste almost anything.  Some of the "different" foods I've tried have left me with lasting impressions, not all of them good.  Thank goodness I have a sense of humor, if not , after trying this product, I may not try any new and/or different foods ever again.

After seeing Banquet Homestyle Bakes in my local grocery store on sale for $3.50 a box, I picked up several and gave some to my two daughters and kept the Cheesy Ham and Hash Browns flavor for my own house.  I figured I'd throw it in the pantry and use it one day when I didn't feel like preparing a big meal.  It is, after all, a boxed convenience meal.  It claims to be six servings and has a prep time of five minutes.  It even says it can be made in the oven or on the stove-top.  All you have to do is add water.  It comes with everything else, the potatoes, sauce, cheese, topping and even meat.  How easy is that?

Apparently easy isn't all it's cracked up to be.  After my one daughter called to tell me that her family didn't care for the Banquet Homestyle Bakes I had given her, I made mine for my household.  What a bunch of boxy tasting, cardboard flavored, paper textured mess.  When I opened the box, I almost threw it straight into the trash.

First of all the food smelled just like the box.  Sometimes that happens with prepared foods, so I cooked it and hoped for the best.  The best never came.  This was the most flavorless meal I have ever purchased, and I have bought many brands and types of prepared meals over the years.  My family and I tasted it, laughed and made faces as well as various comments (most of which cannot be mentioned in this review), threw it down the disposal and ordered pizza.

I guess Banquet Homestyle Bakes would be better that eating nothing at all, but just barely.  It states "Everything you need is in the box".  What it doesn't state is that it TASTES just like the box.

Thanx for the comment, they are awful.

I've always seen them in the store but never bought one. I'm glad I didn't! Meat in a box, on the shelf, that speaks for itself I guess. I'll stick to the ones that you add your own meat!

Well. You make this sound so tasty! LOL Seriously, if it smells and tastes like a box....I think I'll stay away from it. Fun review!
