I have been using Bank of America for the last four years for a personal account.  Thankfully, I do no have my investments with Bank of America.

The Branch I use has a very high turnover rate of employees.  At least once a month there are new tellers.  I live in a very small town, and you notice how quickly the employees change.  These employees are not transfers, but are clearly new tellers.

On Tuesday, October 14th, I made a deposit of two separate checks to my checking account.  On Thursday, October 17th, I went to my online statement to review my accounts.  I was shocked to find an NSF fee of $25.00 on my savings account and the total amount of the two checks I deposited has been "Electronically Transferred" by Bank of America out of my checking account.

I immediately called Bank of America and asked why was I charged an NSF fee and where is my deposit.  The Customer Service Associate immediately recognized there was an error and gave an instant credit for the NSF fee.

After another twenty minutes on the phone, she explained they cannot give a reason why the deposit was transferred out of my account or where it went.  After reviewing the deposit slip and account information she said this was a teller error.

I made my deposit slip out for checking.  The Teller deposited the money into savings.  She must have realized her mistake after she issued my receipt and attempted, unsuccessfully, to transfer the money back into my checking account.

If the teller wasn't so busy talking about her hairdresser with the teller next to her she may have just been able to make this simple deposit without a mistake.

Bank of America now needs to investigate their error at my cost.  It will take the Bank a minimum of 5 business days to correct their mistake.

This is not the first time this has happened with Bank of America.  This is the third time in four years something like this has happened.

Once I resolve the issue of the current lost deposit I will be closing my accounts with Bank of America.  They just can't be trusted.

Had somehow similar problems several times with BoA. They chaged me 3 times $12 for "insufficient funds" which wasn't true. Every time I had to call and somehow got my money back, but it took over 3 months to resolve that problem. Very poor service!

What a bummer!!!! I've been with B of A for over 28 years and they've always been solid as a rock. I wish I hadn't read your article, cause your scaring me now. I have all my accounts and several investments with them. I hope it's an East Coast kinda thing, and doesn't spread west. Sorry for what a major screw up that happened to you. Major bummer!

Never even heard of it. I live in a very small town...get this we have two Sun Banks, Bank of Amercia, two TD North Banks, Ocean First, and a Wachovia too! That's a lot of banks for one small town.

Yikes! Perhaps a call to the Attorney General's office would be helpful. Sometimes just an inquiry phone call from them has amazing results. Good luck!

I am on the phone with them right now because my money is still not back in my account. They say my money is in "Limbo" and they are still working on it! I'm not happy about this!

Since this has happened more than once, I have to continually monitor my accounts, which isn't such a bad idea either. Thanks for reading my review!

I worked for JPMorgan Chase for over 20 years and yes, unfortunately those things happen much too often. Good for you for catching it so quick!
