The cash and gift certificate rewards came very quickly both times I redeemed points, but the credit card customer service is abysmal, as is their online payment interface. I accidentally typed a comma instead of a period in making a $129.51 payment, and they tried to take $12,159.00 from my checking account. I received very indifferent and even downright hostile customer service for hours when I tried to get this fixed, and was cut off or given incorrect numbers several times, while listening to maddening promotional messages on hold, before finally I yelled enough to be transferred to someone who could actually help and was extremely pleasant. The upshot was I had to pay my bank $30 for a stop payment and was ultimately able to get BoA to waive its fee, but I still got charged a finance charge and didn't have the energy to dispute it.
And it all started because I went paperless and then they didn't send me any alert when a payment was due, so I was late, and they would only knock off half the late fee although I paid in full as soon as I realized there was a problem. I made the typo because I was in such a hurry to get the payment through.
I will be cancelling both BoA cards because they are just too difficult to deal with and completely uncaring. Chase has a much better interface for online payment and their customer service is better by far.
