Bank of America - Visa —

Due to the two credit cards that my wife and I have reaching their maximum, we thought it would be a good idea to try and qualify for a new credit card with a low APR to transfer our balances to. We received a pre-approved credit card application in the mail from Bank of America with a 0% up to a 2.99% APR. We thought this was great until we read all the fine print. I called them to apply over the phone. This was a tedious and frustrating process. I had a very difficult time simply trying to understand the very thick accent of the customer service representative. Turns out he was in the Philippines. (I had to ask him). After a 20 or so minute conversation in which they asked a million questions, and put me on hold many times, they finally told me what my credit limit would be. It barely covered the balances that I'd want transferred. Oh well. I did not know, however, what my APR would be until I received the credit cards and all the paperwork in the mail. Eventually when it came I was given the 2.99% rate even though my wife and I have excellent credit. The paperwork also mentioned a 4% fee on balance transfers. The customer "service" guy forgot to tell me that. I thought this was really crazy that I would have to pay a lot of money just to try and save some money. I figured it wasn't worth activating these cards so we didn't. We called the company and cancelled them. I will never deal with Bank of America again!
