Bank of America - Visa Card —

Bank of America approves people for credit cards for which they would not be qualified on their own. I applied for a Bank of America Hawaiian Airlines Visa Credit Card at the beginning of 2007. Based on the amount of money that my husband got paid, I was approved for a credit card with a limit of $6,000. I did not even have a job. Shortly thereafter, I got a divorce from my husband and still had a huge credit limit of $6,000 even though I was now making only $10 an hour. I ended up racking the card up unfortunately, being young and naive. The first time that I accidentally missed my payment by about 5 days, they hiked my interest rate up to 29.99%. If you can do simple math, my monthly interest on a $6,000 credit card would be almost $150 on it's own, adding principal to that, they sent me monthly bills of $250. I, being on a limited income, could not afford that of course. Bank of America was overconfident in a girl with little to no credit and no job. They have ruined my credit raiting and report for the next 7 years as I had to settle with them after the interest got out of control. I would not recommend this card to anyone.

No, it was a credit card with only my name on it. The guy that helped me apply for it told me to put my husband's income since I didn't have one. Thinking they were trying to help me, I went along with it. That is the problem with being young and naive I guess.

I am sorry for your misfortune but you can't blame them...Apparently you applied for a joint account seeing they used both incomes. As for raising your rate for paying late, every card I have ever had does that. You over extended yourself and that is unfortunate but you can't blame them for ruining your credit.
