About five years ago we always used our Discover card for the cash back. We averaged about $150 a year after charging just about everything we purchased. We try to travel as much as we can afford on a Social Security budget. We currently, again, charge everything we buy. We accumulate tons of points we can use at all Comfort Inn hotels. We try to go in off seasons as they require fewer points. Also, we are able to get a very nice suite sometimes for reduced points. We currently average about 5-7 nights a year and sometimes as many as 14 when they have 1 night for 2 stays. We always enjoy their rooms as most are very new hotels in nice areas of town. We also find it much easier to use than the Discover card. Certain areas of the country are not as welcoming of the Discover card. We make sure to always pay the full balance every month which is taken from our checking account so we don't even have to invest in a stamp.
